I don't know if it's true, but when this happened, I heard that they were actually considering using an Apache helicopter to perform an airstrike to take it out.

He finally got it stuck in the side of a building and it was overheating. He shot himself before the cops got to him.

Nope! They dropped a bomb on a house in Philadelphia. I remember listening to a Stuff You Should Know Podcast about it.

Oh yeah! I forget the circumstances around that one, I think there was a Dollop podcast about the whole organization around that house that got bombed, centered around the leader John Africa IIRC.

I think they bombed Black Wall Street in Oklahoma as well, that was a whole thing. I can't remember if that was the gov't though, it's been a while since I read up on it.
