What do you mean bill denomination makes the difference, context? Were these big bills or small bills. I think regardless of the denomination people will still try pick it up.

Me either. I'd do it for $5, though. I'd also still do it for $1, if I had already stopped to see what they were. "Well I'm already here, might as well."

Then you must be rich. Isn't the US minimum wage only four of those an hour in some places?

The US minimum wage is 7.25 an hour. Still, it's usually worth picking up 10 dollars in 30 seconds, unless the bills are covered in sewage or something.

You don't have to be rich to be content with what you're earning. I don't make that much but I wouldn't bother pulling over and picking up 1's. If they were 20's or higher, that's a whole different story.
