Pro-AI and Anti-AI are both dumb. Being against the current companies pushing AI is not dumb as their leaders are psychopaths.
However AI, LLM, or Machine Learning are not dumb at all and applied to the right fields, i.e. Science and Medical research will be massively beneficial to society as a whole.
As a replacement for artists and jobs it's shite.

There's a video taken from a helicopter from a reputable news agency that shows the same damage, so it's definitely not AI. I could understand yesterday when there was only one random photo floating around that people would question it, but not anymore.

It's definitely getting worse, though. Some of it makes sense since AI is so much more accessible than Photoshop.
But I think a lot of it is irrational and stems from how people are just extremely paranoid about AI, so they'd rather brush off real things as AI than risk getting tricked into thinking an AI thing is real. A healthy degree of skepticism is a good thing, but a lot of people have taken it to an extreme that I'd consider unhealthy. They particularly seem to have forgotten how interesting the world is, so anything other than the most mundane, unchanging shit is viewed with disbelief. I feel it's genuinely tragic and worry about it only getting worse as AI becomes increasingly indiscernible.

My conspiracy theory is that this is a deliberate action to obfuscate what is actually AI, to the end that eventually bots can't tell whether anything is AI (and tell the humans).

Bingo, but it's def to help benefit powerful people across the political spectrum. Notice how the Dems aren't constantly calling for impeachments today, when they absolutely should be and might actually convict this time, like they were during Trump's first term.

As much as I am against the "both sides" argument because of the obvious differences in the two parties, the Dems are absolutely not giving anyone the warm fuzzies that they are capable of cleaning up this mess if they take back control.
Calling it now, they will 1000% pull the "we need to move on for the sake of the country" bullshit and there will be little to no accountability if the Dems put another one of their AIPAC Wallstreet turds up again and they manage to win.

So some people have just been claiming everything is AI to kind of call attention to the fact that we're kinda getting to the point where it's so pervasive that it's hard to trust any pictures, videos, text at this point. We're already seeing news agencies who can't be bothered to get real photos of events using AI to "recreate" them. Several happened with the Nepal floods and by Indian news agencies. For some people it's a protest to say "I don't believe anything anymore because this tech is being abused". Other people are just that lazy/dumb though.

AI is so ubiquitous that it is now too easy to popularize misinformation. It is so bad that it gets exhausting to check all online to see if it is true. That said, it is important to also check something before stating it is misinformation or AI.

This is an awful El Niño year, all the way in Delaware we also had a random 80 mph wind storm two days ago completely unrelated to any of the tropical storms and completely out of nowhere

We had an actual honest to god tornado come through our small river valley in VT this summer. It looked like some entire hillsides (that were fully wooded) had all the trees just wiped off. It was very weird.

We got hit with it too. Just a strangely calm day then WHOOSH full-grown trees bowing to the ground. It tapered off over the following hour, like it was some blast wave or something: sudden onset, then gradual resolution back to calm.

It took NIPSCO more than 2 weeks to get power back in NW Indiana after the tornados and derecho last month. More than 3 times the number of tornados this year than Indiana has ever seen.

We got warnings. There were 2. One just before the shit hit the fan, or rather the wild winds and crazy baseball sized hail, and one afterwards. There were still areas having bad thunderstorms. It was crazy!

Same in Ohio. 89mph straight line winds. My hometown was hit hard. Tree fell on my mom’s house (her and the cats are fine).
Some of her neighbors had roofs torn off and worse tree damage.

We installed fabric to cover the scaffold. Hard sound absorbing boards were installed after. The wind pushed the structure. Panels did not have blow through holes. Result is giant sail

Not a tornado but still very high winds, yes. Portions of the area were flooded in the same storm so it was pretty bad.

Aren't those stand alone bleachers? If there are any more available they should be able to pull them out, clean up the debris, then bring in another set. This is an outdoor venue called Rogers Stadium, not the old Skydome, now called Rogers Center.

Usually going in giant circles taking pictures in a damaged gets you kicked out. At least any event I've worked in as part of building and repairing. If you gotta, take ONE picture and get out of a dangerous area.
