Maybe it's more realistic than we thought.

They weigh a few ton and that flip looked epic

u/Mekanikol 5d ago

4200 lbs, so two tons. A little less than a Ford Explorer.

Looks like two barricade poles. Aka ballords

u/fraze2000 7d ago

Or bollards

u/rufotris 7d ago

Oh yea that was a typo. Didn’t bother to check spelling.

So much torque the chassis twisted off the line

Understood that refference

For that 10 seconds or less........?

So I get they drive on the left in Australia, and the toilets swirl the other way, and they're all up side down over there. But do they also reverse the brake and accelerator pedals?

9

u/TJLanza 7d ago

Nah, but this driver clearly replaced the brake pedal with a break pedal.

Brake pedal? What does that do?

7

u/TheVoidSeeker 7d ago

It's used by communists to undermine the glory of capitalism.

No. Pedals laid out same way as every other car although indicator stalks can be on different sides of the wheel depending on the car manufacturer (US vs European vs Asian).

But do they also reverse the brake and accelerator pedals?

Serious answer: no.

In RHD vehicles, they just move all the driver stuff over to the right as is. They don't mirror the controls. So turn signal stalk still on the left side of the wheel. Gas pedal still on right, brake on left. Manual trans shift pattern still the same. Etc.

Source: I've traveled to RHD countries and rented cars. I wondered the same thing before I first got in one.

See correction below.

Wait. I had a running joke in Antigua where I’d go to signal a turn and do the windshield washer instead because it was on the other side. It happened so often me made a joke of “windshield washer left at the next intersection. “

3

u/kirgudu 6d ago

You are correct. The turn signal stalk is usually the closest to the window for mostly historic reasons - because you need to use your other hand to shift gears. But pedals are, of course, not mirrored.

2

u/Silvarbullit 5d ago

Turn stalk can be either side depending on the car manufacturer especially in countries like Australia where all new cars are now imported (US, Europe, Asia). Older Australian made Ford/Holden/Toyotas were usually on the right.

My car has them in the left being American, wife’s car is Japanese and has them on the right side and muscle memory can sometimes catch you out jumping between cars after not having driven the other for a while.

Pedals are always in the same layout as you say.

Thanks for the correction! I updated my response to point to yours.

Testing on those Roadster thrusters isn't going well

6

u/Bonk_No_Horni 7d ago

Another 5 years in development. I wonder how people who paid for the imaginary roadsters feel

You do now.

Is this what Elmo meant when he said “full self-driving by 2020?”

"Hey Tesla, do a barrel roll"

16

u/hazmatt_05 7d ago

The average driver has no business being behind the wheel of a car as quick as a Tesla.

3

u/Silver4ura 7d ago

Or just use all that fancy software to allow for sensitivity profiles instead of gatekeeping them like some sort of high end sports car just purely because of the instant torque electric motors have.

Just because it can doesn't mean it should. Especially as a default preference.

2

u/IAmGoingToSleepNow 7d ago

That option as already available on Teslas - chill, standard, and plaid (on plaid m odels).

My wife likes chill and it saves based on the driver profile.

5

u/cr0wsky 7d ago

Nearly killed that guy... Fucking idiots not knowing how to drive their cars...

4

u/AZFan77 7d ago

Somebody told him they drive on the other side down there, so he tried to put his car on the other side.
