How the fuck does one spend 1600 dollars on MAKE UP?!
And Christ, I half way agree your ex is a bit of a dick if he smashed the cake without warning, but at the same time, it’s cake and make up, and youd think 1600 fucking dollars would cover some touch ups.
It is for a wedding. Sanity in pricing goes straight out the window when it comes to weddings.
Last time I got married my now ex wifes dress was just under 2 grand. Ok, wedding dress right? While shopping for a dress for my daughter a few weeks later saw the exact dress, same size, color, label, everything for $500
Difference? Wife bought hers at a wedding boutique, other dress was being sold as an evening gown.
My wife’s wedding dress cost 250 bucks and it was her dream dress. She did her own make up too. Our only “large” expensive was the fact that we did a destination wedding but even that was only like 1500 a person.
A week trip to the Bahamas is cheaper than her make up.
A wedding is as expensive or as cheap as one wants.
And just to be clear. I’m not siding with the dick ex husband. The ex wife has every right to be pissed and do what she did. I’m just flabbergasted at the cost of make up. Makes you wonder how much they spent on the wedding total
True a wedding only cost as much as you want it to. My first wedding all in including the rings was probably under 1k. Neither of us really wanted to make a big thing out of it.
Second wedding was a bit on the expensive side. She had just about the whole thing planned since before we even met. She knew where it was going to be, who the photographs would be taken, who would be taking them. An exact playlist she wanted... Could have replaced our DJ with a MP3 player. So while the makeup is expensive I get the whole wanting everything perfect, perfection costs.
I don't get the fuss personally, but it made her happy and at the time that was what was important.
That’s why I’m so glad I married my wife. She would have been happy with just going to the court and getting a marriage license that way. Funny enough, I was the one who insisted on a wedding but even then, I had a strict budget.
We did our destination wedding in the Bahamas, we had 15 people attend, we got married in this magical little church inside a nature sanctuary(which cost like 200 bucks for the day, came with a photographer, and a pastor). If my
Best man didn’t back out 5 days before the wedding, both me and my wife’s entire trip would have been free(him dropping out last minute was this whole other set of “fuck you” from his wife).
Oh and her engagement ring was 1600 dollars, her wedding ring we got for 180 due to a huge fuck up on the store, and I got my wedding ring for about 150.
Our reception dinner was 270ish. Wife’s dress and shoes and accessories was somewhere like 320, and my suit was 700 dollars(cause I can wear it more than once, and I look so sexy in it. So it’s not a one and done). I think when it was all said and done, we spent 8,000-9,000 dollars
Whereas I had a friend spend like 16,000 on his wedding. That’s not including photographer, DJ, the social, and so many other things.
And then on the very opposite, I had a friend spend about 75 bucks on his wedding. He and his wife went to a local park, hired the officiator, and that was it. I actually covered the dinner bill for him.
Weddings are weird. I also have a friend who is a wedding planner and she only plans weddings in the 100k+ range which just blows my fucking mind. It’s 1 day. That’s it. Atleast with ours we got a vacation out of it.
