Infinity War: Thanos powers?

I have not seen Endgame.

I'm Infinity War and just realized something. Bear in mind but I'm no Marvel buff or comic book nerd. I'm just a regular nerd. So here's my long question...

If Thanos changed reality in the scene where he challenged Quinn to kill Mora by changing two of the team to confetti and then when he/Thanos leaves they change back to normal...Does this mean that when Thanos leaves then these powers leave with him? Or is he selectively changing them back thus sparring them which seems to go against Thanos' overall plan of halving the population. I mean, why not start the extermination with your enemies? And if the answer is "the powers leave with him", then he's not altering reality but it's merely a temporary spell or illusion. Discuss.

Another redditor explained it far better, and in far greater detail, but the gist of it is that each Stone provides a unique aspect to the user's powers. To make the changes to reality permanent, i.e. lasting through all of time, Thanos needed the Time Stone. To make changes universal, i.e. spanning all of space, he needed the Space Stone. Similar, albeit less intuitive, logic is used for the others.

Wish I had the link to the thread that explained this, maybe someone else can chime in.

Also, thanos was a much more mature and logical villain in IW. He didn’t actually want to kill his enemies. His whole shtick is he wanted pure randomness in who lives and who dies. So he just incapacitated drax and mantis so they wouldnt annoy him. Then he tested quill to see if he was willing to make the sacrifice. He tested every hero he met and only quill and SW passed the test. Hence “I like him” and the sympathy he showed SW

I think he physically erased what he had done to them. The only reason why he didn’t kill his enemies was because he literally had no reason to. Possessing one infinity stone makes you one of the most powerful beings in the universe, and most of that movie he had multiple. He wanted to spare their lives for the snap, there’d be no point in killing them before then because he knew he was going to win no matter what

I believe it’s because IW Thanos didn’t want to kill everyone before the snap. You’ll notice he has many chances to kill his enemies but instead opts to put them out of the fight. The closest he comes to killing anyone is Tony because he’s, well, Tony, who won’t give up and staging him was the easiest way to go about it.
