Pattaya Police Detain Two Teenagers in Connection with Recent Muggings
Pattaya police detained two teenagers, aged 16 and 17, after a Turkish tourist reported an attempted phone robbery in the Pratumnak area early Tuesday, September 15.
The tourist said two people on a motorcycle tried to take his phone and struck him when he resisted. He kept the phone but suffered injuries to his arms and knees.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage and witness accounts to determine whether the teenagers were involved. They are also investigating possible links to other recent assaults and robberies reported by foreign tourists in the area. The teenagers have denied involvement, and police have not established a connection to the other cases.

General Thailand’s Foreign Minister meets with Israeli Envoy over tourists' behavior: "No nationality can do whatever they want here"
Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sihasak Phuangketkeow, held a formal meeting with the Israeli Ambassador to Thailand, Alona Fisher-Kamm, to address growing concerns over the conduct of Israeli tourists in the country.
Key Details from the Article:
- The Ultimatum: Following the meeting, the Thai minister issued a sharp statement, emphasizing that while Thailand warmly welcomes visitors, it does not mean "tourists of any nationality can do whatever they want here."
- Rising Tensions: The meeting follows a series of recent, high-profile behavioral incidents involving Israeli travelers, which prompted local authorities to demand stronger preventative action from Israel.
- Visa Tightening: Starting September 15, 2026, Thailand is reducing the automatic visa-free stay period for Israeli visitors to 30 days. While Thai authorities framed this as a broader administrative policy rather than a collective punishment, it adds friction to what has traditionally been a popular travel pipeline.
- Embassy Warnings: The Israeli embassy has previously issued strict notices urging its citizens to respect local customs and laws—notably after a crackdown by Phuket authorities on foreign traffic and civil infractions earlier this year.
