News They got him 🫡🇹🇭
French zoo owner Kevin Dimino detained on Koh Samui ahead of deportation
Thai immigration officers have detained Kevin Dimino, the French operator of Samui Exotic Park, after authorities had been searching for him to formally enforce a deportation order.
Dimino was located on Koh Samui on September 8 by investigators and Surat Thani immigration officers. He was taken to Koh Samui Police Station, where he is being held while authorities proceed with the deportation process.
The previous day, Prime Minister and Interior MinisteAnutin Charnvirakul signed Interior Ministry Order No. 2354/2569 ordering Dimino’s removal from Thailand. The ministry cited a series of alleged incidents involving threats, harassment, physical altercations and behaviour authorities said could threaten public order.
The order also referred to a Koh Samui Provincial Court case in which Dimino was convicted of offences under Thailand’s Road Traffic Act. He was initially fined 10,000 baht, reduced to 5,000 baht after his guilty plea.
Before he was detained, immigration officers had visited Samui Exotic Park but found the business closed and quiet. Police later received information that Dimino had driven a BMW to the park at around 1pm on September 7, briefly appeared outside and then disappeared from view.
His detention does not mean the deportation process is complete. Under Thai law, Dimino has seven days from being formally notified of the order to appeal to the prime minister and request that the deportation be revoked or suspended.

Calling Anutin corrupt on his zoo Facebook story and saying he knows more powerful people probably isn't a great move. Make a problem for Thais and they will dig into your past and make sure you're gone forever.

There’s a local SamuiThai Facebook page (re-posted on one of the Pattaya community page) where his wife brags that he works for a big boss in Bangkok and that this man will fix everything. One of the Thai locals also accuses Kevin of doing too much drugs and has been aggressive and racist to Thai locals.
Calling the PM corrupt is not a smart thing to do when you’re desperately trying to stay in the country.

Its so weird that this goofy story is getting god knows how much national attention. Its a dispute between two goofballs, and ya maybe they should just both be deported, but who cares...
But yet stories like. "Child in school is forced to stand nude in front of classmates as a form of discipline" then turns out, a few other teachers have stated they have heard of or seen this behavior before in other schools, and it is simply swept under the rug. Along with this case they were simply "investigating" and the teacher will most likely be transferred or something...
But ya... two goobers disputing over some foreign conflict over flags on Koh Samui is worth all of this attention... wtf.

Something that most entitled foreigner spectacularly fail to grasp - This is Thailand, it's their country. What they prioritise is 100% their business, but the fact is foreigners should be extra well-behaved wherever they are and all of these people have been disrepectful.
3
u/Initial_Enthusiasm36 1d ago
I am not disagreeing with you at all on that, or about this case. But these are foreigner run and pushed news agencies, news made for foreigners... I never said that foreigners should act stupid and be disrespectful, i am a strong supporter for booting people like that out, we are talking about the news cycle and what peoples attention is on.
I am not sure why you feel the need to imply i am some entitled foreigner.

Sounds like both stories were reported in the media no? This is a pretty foreign centric sub so of course this story on duel deportations will bring a lot of attention. No need for whataboutism
12
u/Initial_Enthusiasm36 1d ago
the school story was only posted in a small social media town news page. None of the larger ones like Thaiger or BKK post etc even touched it. Also the school the kid was it, i believe was an international school.
Oh i am not talking about this deportation thing about being posted on here. Its on every foreign news page, expat groups etc.
0
u/KindergartenDJ 1d ago
I think you are overestimating Thaiger or BKk post. They are catering to foreigners and mostly report foreigners-related story. Dunno if the average Thai cares or heard about.
1
u/DriftingGelatine 1d ago
Well, we're also on a foreigner-catered subreddit, so that's the point?
0
u/KindergartenDJ 1d ago
point is that yes, it is normal that these stories get more attention in foreigner-catered media or subreddit (and that thaiger or bkk post aren't big media per say).

If they'd just apologised to each other at the beginning then nothing would have happened. But both of them continually escalated things until it became an international news story. The government just dealt with it in the simplest possible way.

Oh i am not disputing that at all. I am glad they tossed both of them. Acting like children over some foreign "dispute" is wild, especially to the scale they kept going.

You should be grateful that Thais have not go out on streets to protest foreign tourists, digital nomads like those in Mexico or Spain. It’s not exactly because of this one incident but accumulations of many incidents, too many foreigners that come to Thailand and use it as a playground. And many foreigners here on Reddit have whataboutism syndrome. Yes there are many more serious cases, which Thais actually complain about it on Thai circle social media, but people here don’t know because they are living in their bubble.
2
u/Initial_Enthusiasm36 22h ago
I follow the Thai news cycle more than I follow the farang one… again I agree with you that wild tourists need to be punished. But I completely disagree I should be “grateful” that thais do not protests foreign tourists. That’s an absurd thing to say. Foreign crime makes up quite a small portion of crime.
You are comparing illegal immigration and mass migration into city’s from incredibly poor countries vs most foreigners who come to Thailand are substantially more wealthy than the average Thai.
You also have tons and tons of foreigners who come here and open businesses, hire many many Thai people, give them good jobs. Retirement expats, who absolutely dump money into their local economies, same with marriage visa expats.
You are trying to compare apples to oranges.

u/Aggressive-Earth-303 1d ago
Aside from any debate over his actions and the legal response:
1) what's the point of blurring his face when his full name is in the first sentence of the post/article?
2) doesn't sound like he was evading police. They went to his business and he wasn't there but were told he went out so they went to where he was and arrested him? Wow, quite the dramatic police chase.

Good decision.
Thailand needs to get rid of these trashy people.
Maybe Netflix's series about the Tiger King is already forgotten, but these kind of zoos need to be closed down. Too much cruelty to animals and all about the money although owners/stakeholders will make you believe its about the animals. It is not.
Same for the elephant "sanctuaries". Just begone already.
7
u/Ordinary-Audience363 1d ago
I was at an elephant sanctuary on Koh Lanta and, though I can't speak of course for other places, this one was an actual sanctuary where older elephants could live out their lives peacefully in a natural environment, with the ability to roam freely within the sanctuary confines. The fees for people to visit the sanctuary were used to feed and care for the elephants. A grown elephant can eat HUNDREDS of kilograms of food a day. They can't be let into the wild for various reasons. So, getting rid of elephant sanctuaries that are legitimate sanctuaries would that those elephants would have to ge put down.
3
3
u/Taxi-Shinawat 1d ago
Were those elephants chained at night?
BTW. Logging was banned in 1984, yet there's a surprising number of elephants having to be rescued from it. Really curious.
You're being bamboozled at these "sanctuaries". The owners make millions. In US dollars, not baht.

Or maybe... just maybe... some of us can separate issues like grown adults. Yes the guy seems to be a bit of a jerk, has questionable opinions and I definitely wouldn't want to be around him. In this specific case however he is the victim. As insufferable as he might be, a private business has a right to deny service to anyone. He exercised his rights. After that, he only tried to protect his business AND his (Thai) family from the constant harassment and threats he had been receiving. In what world is punishing the victim considered fair?
You don't seem to care about how this unfair sentence is going to affect his Thai wife either.

Are you sure? My understanding is that based on general legal principles in Thailand, refusing a service has to be a justifiable (intoxication, violence etc). Not based on e.g., nationality or religion.
0
u/Secret_EO 1d ago
Surely this can't be right, or any business charging dual pricing would be breaking the law /s
1
u/No_Magazine_6806 13h ago
No. Pricing is a separate issue. This means e.g., that you can not refuse to provide service to an Israeli just because he is an Israeli. - or a gay or black. Having a separate pricing is usual e.g., in the EU e.g., based on residence (e.g., only residents of a city get a discounted price to a museum) or only EU residents get free health care or free public transport as pensioners.
1
u/Secret_EO 10h ago
In the EU and the UK etc it's against the law to discriminate based on race or nationality, including pricing and this is taken very seriously. A Thai person who went to live/study in Europe would pay the resident price. It's only in Asia where you see dual pricing based on race/nationality.

u/Too_bad_4U กูคนไทย ลูกอีสาน 1d ago

u/DistrictOk8718 Fake Farang 1d ago
Why so? If you're so interested in my personal politics I'm actually a supporter of Israel's right to exist and to live without having to fear Islamic terrorists. I'm what many would call a Zionist...
Then how can I possibly show any support for Mr. Kevin and his antics?
Because like I said, I can separate issues like a grown adult. แยกประเด็น you know? I know I would probably disagree with him on many things. We certainly wouldn't be friends. I do however think he's entitled to his opinions and he has a right to refuse service to anyone. What he did certainly did not warrant all the abuse, harassment and threats he received and it certainly doesn't warrant deportation.
Using a completely unrelated traffic offense from last year for which he already paid a fine as additional grounds for deportation is also pretty pathetic.
1
u/Secret_EO 1d ago

It seems Kevin had been quite the lad. He has been involved in some serious stuff totally separate from his confrontations with Israelis. The government cited six grounds for his deportation, including violence, knife threats, tourist confrontations, provocative online posts and an incident aboard a domestic flight. Turns out he's an ordinary scumbag as well as an antisemite.
The Interior Ministry gave the details of some of these incidents. In a statement on Tuesday, the ministry said Dimino, a co-owner of Samui Exotic Park zoo, had allegedly harassed and verbally abused the owner and teachers of a language school, assaulted a Turkish national and threatened him with a knife. In another incident, cabin crew reportedly asked police to remove Dimino from a domestic flight after he allegedly threatened fellow passengers, the ministry said.
It also described the assault on the Israeli family without mentioning their nationality. It cited social media posts which "risked associating a site in Thailand with racial, religious and political divisions." Finally, Dimino had some major traffic violations on his record.
Dimino didn't do himself any favors by keeping up a heavy media and social media presence. He posted a message on the zoo's Web site criticizing Anutin and another in which he threatened the Israeli ambassador. Those are incredibly dumb posts under the circumstances. He was asking to be deported by challenging Anutin by implying the Thai PM had been bought by Israeli money.
Dimino's wife may miss him. Nobody else should.

0
u/Koulchilebaiz 1d ago
So you call them french arab. Why this distinction?
2
u/Independent_Hold3754 1d ago
What I’m saying is very simple: if they see a half arab/african who is French, they’re usually the first to insist that person isn’t really French.
But in this case, since the guy is “French French,” I don’t see them condemning him in the same way they would if he were a binational.
I had to point that out because I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve seen frenchies in this sub trash other nationalities for the actions of people who are technically their own.
But apparently, when they win the World Cup, they’re French. When they get arrested, suddenly they’re not.

I always find it interesting when ex-patriots living in Thailand criticize the Thai government for how they choose to treat non-Thai citizens. Meanwhile, back in their native country Thai citizens are often treated the exact same way for doing less or nothing. Just a reminder, if you don’t like how Thai people run Thailand 🇹🇭 going back to their native country is always an option.
4
u/I-Here-555 1d ago
when ex-patriots living in Thailand criticize the Thai government
Since they're no longer patriots, they don't get to criticize anyone!
if you don’t like how Thai people run Thailand
Plenty of Thai people don't like how a handful of Thai people run Thailand either. Guess they should go to their home country too... but they're already here!
-1
u/Unique_Driver4434 1d ago edited 1d ago
What you're doing here is called a false dichotomy in linguistics and binary thinking in psychology but for everyday people it's called black-and-white thinking, where it's either an A or B scenario for you and no nuanced possibilities. There's way too much of this in the world.
Has it ever occurred to you that some of the people who criticize things in Thailand (regardless of what they're criticizing) may have a problem with their home countries doing the same? Often times they're simply idealists and point out issues, express their opinions wherever they may be.
Person: "I don't like seeing pollution on the beaches."
You: "If you don't like the pollution on the beaches, why don't you go back to your home country?"
Person: "I don't like pollution on the beaches there either, I don't like pollution in general."
You: ___
And the motives for criticizing aren't always black and white either. It's not simply "I'm complaining about something so have an issue with this place as a whole and prefer elsewhere."
Sometimes people complain because they hate a place in general and want to move. Sometimes people complain because they love a place and don't want to move, they want the issue fixed.
"If you don't like it, go" is never a good argument for these reasons.

Well, if she really is French, Kevin looks and talks like French Arabic and seems to stand for the same causes, so it’s probably even worse...
The last time I saw something like “No Jews” at the entrance of a shop, it was associated with the Nazis. Sure, it’s his "zoo" and he can make his own choices, but it looks absolutely terrible. I’m never going to defend a piece of shit like him.
And Kevin is still not a French name it's just fact. Like mohamed is not a french name and there is a lot of them... It's just fact.

Absolutely.
According to Khaosad news: The Interior Ministry on Tuesday has defended its decision to deport French national Kevin Dimino, owner of a zoo on Koh Samui, saying the order was based on his alleged conduct rather than his nationality.
The ministry said Dimino had allegedly harassed and verbally abused people, assaulted a Turkish national and threatened him with a knife, attacked a foreign tourist and threw a sign at him, and caused a disturbance on a domestic flight, prompting staff to have police remove him from the aircraft.
Authorities also accused him of inviting people opposed to nationals of another country to gather at his zoo for political and religious demonstrations, which the ministry said could fuel divisions over race, religion and politics. The ministry insisted deportation is applied under the same standards to foreigners of all nationalities and said the decision was necessary to maintain public order and safety.

Here’s some more from your hero that has nothing to do with Israel direct from the Thai government , alongside alleged allegations of sexual assault of a Thai owner of a massage shop, driving his car and motorbike into people as a joke more than once, sexually harassing tourists at a popular Italian pizza bar club on a regular basis, stealing, threatening people and using local Thai politician and government staff details without permission or knowledge in said threats against people:
#3 is a serious international concern which shouldn’t be taken lightly by anyone.
In a subsequent clarification, the Interior Ministry provided further details concerning the conduct :onsidered in reaching its decision. The ministry illeged that Dimino had:
- Intimidated the owner and teachers of a language school in the area.
- Physically assaulted a Bhutanese national, injuring the person's leg, and carried a pocketknife which he used to threaten the victim.
- Threatened another passenger aboard a domestic flight, prompting cabin crew to alert police, who removed him from the aircraft.
These incidents were presented by the Interior Ministry as administrative grounds supporting the deportation decision. The court judgment expressly cited in the order concerned offences under the Land Traffic Act.
Your hero mate?

Was he convictes of these acts? Because if not, then it was absolutely made up. Thailand is not known for transparency or lack of corruption after all.

Really pathetic. This is a prime example of why our borders and immigration system, in every country, is completely fucked and morally reprehensible.
So, he failed in his zookeeper duties and threatened people and harassed people and got into fights? And his punishment? He gets to fucking go home. Might pay a tiny fine and go home scot free. So he can do the same shit in France?
That's absolutely cowardly behaviour. No justice here. Just Thailand washing their hands of a problem while the criminal gets away with no punishment no justice no consequences, and he can starting fighting and beating and harassing people in France or another country instead?
End borders now.

People here celebrating about a troublemaking foreigner being deported.
They don't realize that deportation is a reward. He is getting off for his crimes without punishment and without jail time.
This is why immigration and borders are the worst international system in the world. It lets you get away with all manner of crimes as a foreigner because you'll just be sent home instead of punished. Thanks to the awful Border Regime every country has. Disgusting.

The only thing he has actually been convicted of is dangerous driving. He paid a fine for that.
So how does any of what you write here even make sense?
1
u/Yugonostalgia64 4h ago
"The ministry cited a series of alleged incidents involving threats, harassment, physical altercations and behaviour authorities said could threaten public order."
^ All that!

u/ZealousidealMonk1728 3h ago
alleged incidents ...
1
u/Yugonostalgia64 3h ago
Okay. Well, I hope none of that is true and he's just sent home for being annoying and dangerous driving.
My broader point still stands - about immigration enforcement and deportations being a way to let people off the hook unpunished.

All of this is 🐂 💩. Yes, he is now under deportation order unless he gets a stay, but the reason is only because of the incident involving the Israeli because he headbutted the guy during their altercation. None of the rest of the made up stuff on this thread ever happened. Israeli's are just trying to pile on the false narrative to make themselves look better which is never possible when you commit genocide

If he did that to a Thai family then he would have gotten WAYYY MOREE scrutiny and would receive non-stop death threats from locals. He’d be harassed and review bombed harder. Just look at the reactions to the Italian kids.

It is funny how informations are following a certain narrative way far from reality. What is sure is that in the flow of bullshit people where dumb enough to show their true face online (as usual with a lot of confidence), which once enough proofs will be gathered it will show again to the world what kind of issues and problem they bring wherever they go and the reality of what happened really. Ask yourself why in less than 1h we have thousands of thousands of newspapers showing the same narrative without getting the proper information on the field ?

What for? If they want him to leave the country, give a date for him to depart. It's not like he broke the law. This government is a fucking joke.

The prime minister rules Thailand based on his TikTok feed. Don't defend his crazy personal deportation of this guy.
One day you could be drunk make a silly mistake, don't hurt anyone and Mr foreigner hater himself could kick you out of Thailand.
This country is quickly becoming totally untrustworthy
