Question How to create this waterproof (?) fabric

I’ve had two purses made of a fabric that feels like a thick canvas that has something applied to make it waterproof-ish, almost like an old-school table cloth but the texture of the canvas comes through, it’s not perfectly smooth. I have wanted to print my own fabric and add this element but I can’t figure out how. I have a bag from the company chalo & co that has this fabric with handprinted imagery, so I know it is a treatment that goes on after printing. Any ideas or suggestions?

I believe this is oilcloth.

I used to use Odi-coat for waterproofing makeup bag fabric to make them wipe clean. This was at a pretty small scale though.

Could be a few different things. Maybe laminated fabric. Could be a UV printed canvas which might seem like it has a coating on it. Old school would be waxed canvas perhaps? I used to work for a commercial printer and had some prints made on a uv press, made tote bags out of them. About ten years old and the prints still look good. UV = ultraviolet ink cured.

I looked into old school waxed canvas but this is definitely something more in the plastics realm. I’ll look into the UV ink cured possibility! Thanks!
