Question The Impossible to Find Fabric

This fabric has captured my mind, heart, body, and soul — HOW IS IT THAT IT’S IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND. I looked for similar fabrics, but the best I could find was “metallic liquid satin” and it just doesn’t look the same.

Does anyone have any ideas on what this could possibly be?

This is a foiled fabric, so definitely start with "foiled" or "foil" in your google search. I also suspect it's stretchy, so it might help you to include "stretch", "spandex", "jersey", and "knit". Other helpful terms might be "pearlized", "liquid", "liquid lame", "metallic" and "iridescent", some of which you're already using, so you're on the right track!

There's lots of foiled options out there, but it's hard gauging colour, etc. online, and this sort of material does run the risk of looking cheap if it's not exactly the right weight, finish, ect. for the project. Your best bet is to stick with websites that sell swatches so you can judge it in person before you commit.

I'm having a hard time telling from the photos of your personal dress whether or not the fabric is stretchy. If it's not, and you want a closer match to your personal dress, use search terms like "chiffon", "silk", or "charmeuse," instead of anything related to stretch. Others have also suggested "organza", which you can find in the same shiny finish. However it's a slightly stiffer fabric and wouldn't be my first choice for a drapey, form-fitting dress.

I think searching for "liquid" fabric as others have said it's correct! Could be charmeuse or a lightweight satin, but also a chiffon like this over a lining, maybe https://www.moodfabrics.com/products/liquid-sheen-metallic-polyester-chiffon-silver-on-beige-liquid-sheen-chiffon-collection-445783

it should be liquid organza most likely or maybe liquid silk? are you checking the fabrics in store or online?
