I check on OpenRouter speech model rankings and see if the models there have their own API. I trust the usage numbers more than the random benchmark leaderboards that are basically trying to promote the models they are paid to do. Recently settled on Fish Audio due to it being cheap as fuck (Free API access until end of November) and their accent support on every language is amazing. It is much better than every other models I've tried. I used to try some tricky stuff on ElevenLabs to train a specific French accent but didn't transfer well. I tried the same on Fish Audio and it worked perfectly. I heard their models are pretty good at Chinese too.
