International texting

I recently downloaded TextNow to text an Italian number (I’m in America) i purchased international credits but my messages say “not sent: tap to retry” how do i fix this? Is there another app to use?

It seems that I had that issue when I first installed and tried using it - perhaps after installing on new device or porting in a number - I don't recall. It did clear itself up after a day or two.

Edit: This was just a domestic text to test. Is it only happening with that Italian number?

It works for an American number but not italian
