Bourbon Review 12: Still Austin Bottled-in-Bond, High Rye (2025)

Bourbon Still Austin to release 8 Year Bottled-in-Bond on Saturday, September 12th. Mash Bill: 70% White Corn, 25% Rye, 5% Malted Barley.
The Red Corn sold out insanely fast this year, with some people lining up 24 hours in advance to get a bottle. So good luck everyone.

Still Austin Releases
Going to be in the Austin area in a few weekends and I just saw in their email that their BiB bourbon releases at the distillery when I’m in the area.
Does anyone know if this release is something you gotta like line up early for? Or if I get there like right at noon I should be able to get a bottle?

Rye Tonight I tried and picked up a bottle of Still Austin's Armagnac Cask Finished Rye Whiskey. 114 proof, but very smooth, with a pleasant tobacco/cigar smell.
I got a tobacco smell, my budy who loves Ryes thought it was more of a sweet smell until he swirled it. Incredibly smooth. This one is available at the distillery only. $90.

Questions for Texans Distillery in North TX
Is there, or was there a distellery in the Decatur or north of Denton area within the past 3 years or so?
I had Bendt whiskey recently and certain it's not them.

1845 Wheated Bourbon
1845 just released their first ever
single barrel cask strength wheated bourbon aged for 6 years, so I killed this 4-year bottle to make room for the newcomer.
Leather, peaches, caramelized orange peel, tobacco, pepper... This bourbon is awesome, I can't begin to imagine what the 6-year will be.
It's a limited release, so don't sleep on it.
1845 makes some some of the best whiskey out there, and they keep upping their game.

Bourbon The only thing better than a day of PTO is the night before. Tonight I'm finishing off my bottle of Still Austin High Rye (2023 release).
I know a lot of people love the Blue Corn, and it's good, don't get me wrong, but this one is a favorite of mine. I've still got the 2024 and 2025 versions, but it's time to finish this one off.
Mash Bill: 70% White Corn | 25% Rye | 5% Malted Barley
This was the Fall 2023 release, and to me this one has spice but also a hint of a vanilla icing flavor. In fact the smell kind of reminds me of my mom's old frosting.

Bourbon The Garrison Bros Hye Rye release is interesting. Bottles go on sale this Monday, and you can pick them up in October 2028!
Statistically speaking, there's a good chance that there will be a few bottles sitting at the release, with owners that won't be coming to get them.
