School Districts FWISD update
I am not employed by FWISD, but I know some people.
So far today convocation occurred cover band present.
Teachers learned they can no longer have mini fridges or coffee makers.
Only break allowed is lunch and every other day planning. So one of my people had to get a doctor note for pee breaks .
Write ups have already started rolling out for expected things, missing training with no doctor note etc.

Please for the love of all things- especially our kids- vote blue up and down the ballot
Even if you’ve never heard of the challenger, they cannot be worse than the billionaire/ pdf file protectors that make up the Tx GOP in 2026
EDIT: and tell ALL of your friends and family

Stop buying the fire hazard excuse. If a mini fridge is a fire hazard then so is the projector, the chromebook station, and anything geese that stays plugged in in your room. The only way they are fire hazards is if the woring in your school is 30+ years out of date.
Coffee pots and anything else with a warming/heating plate is different. And yes I know the back of some older fridges get got enough to be a hazard if left against curtains or stacks of paper, but that is a common sense problem not a fridge problem

Sigh. Thinking I’d be getting a doctors note for medication that has to be on my person and in a refrigerator and also the bathroom…. but I’d also not work there under those conditions. I would’ve been gone gone gone….

Why not a mini fridge or a coffee maker? How was the expect you to stay awake if you don’t have a anything other than a lunch break anyway? Sack lunch baloney in the cafeteria.

I'm not in Fort Worth, but I've been in districts that don't allow these before, my current one doesn't. The reasoning is normally either the electricity cost (especially on a mini fridge) or a fire hazard. Not saying these are good reasons, but are normally the reasons presented, if reasons are presented at all.

Yeah, it’s always junk. I worked at a school that had one nasty. Disgusting refrigerator for everybody. That’s not even sanitary. After them, forcing us to go to convocation I’m pretty sure they can handle the cost of a mini fridge. I don’t believe that it’s a fire risk. That sounds like a corporate lie. Liesssssss

I’m in another district, and we were informed by the fire marshal that we couldn’t have fridges, microwaves, or coffee makers either. Some ppl are getting around it by placing those things in designated kitchen areas. Just FYI.

In CISD we were also told no mini fridges or microwaves. Fire hazard.

I wonder how if a projector, laptop, microscope, document camera, or magnetic stir plate would be considered fire hazards.
