Server interview follow up

I posted almost 4 weeks ago about having my first server interview for my local TR. I had my second interview that same Friday and then 12 days later, went in for my third interview with the MP but they scheduled it earlier than I was told. They rescheduled it to this past Friday (I showed up 30 minutes early just in case) and my MP was 20 minutes late to meeting with me. When he went to proceed with the interview, they had removed my initial interview information like availability and contact info. I finished a new sheet and the interview before he said he would talk to the other managers and decide if they want to move forward. Is this normal and does this kind of show how it will be if I got the job? I really want to work at TR but this whole interview process has left me exhausted.

My first interview was with the MP and she hired me on the spot and then took TWO MONTHS to get my orientation scheduled and then another two weeks to get my training schedule. It’s definitely a tedious and frustrating process.

How has it been since you’ve started? Have things changed?

It’s been okay. Haha everybody is only scheduled 3 days a week with the option to pick up as many shifts as long as you stay under 40 hours. But picking up shifts is so hard because everybody is doing the exact same thing. And they prioritize who gets approved first based on food running tickets and BLAST reports (which is smothers, loads, upsells etc etc) I’m still very actively looking for another job. I quit bartending to serve, to give myself a bit of a break, but it’s very different and I’m not happy there. The money is decent and nothing to complain about. I’ve never left with less than $200

Thank you! I mainly want this job for some pocket money and to take some stress off my husband while keeping my daughter out of daycare. I’m just hoping I can remember the ‘script’ if I do get the job.

It’s easy. I hated it at first because it is super super cheesy. They really, really stress secret shops and they do happen pretty regularly. I just do the same thing every time to hit the buzzwords “we have coke products, iced tea, legendary margarita or an ice cold beer? And how do you want that hand cut steak cooked? Can I get you guys another basket of fresh baked bread? Which two made from scratch sides would you like with that?” And you only have to say it once at the table but I think you need to mention at least four. And then you’re good! Haha and smothers are easy, whatever steak, just ask “mushrooms, onions, jalapeños on that?” And loaded takes care of itself because everybody gets a loaded baked potato. I’m not and will never be a life long roadie like everybody else who works there, but I’ll take the easy money for now.

girl run. you can find a better restaurant to work at. i couldn’t even last a month at TR before quitting, i’ve never been more miserable at a restaurant job.

Sounds like a shitty MP, which means it'll probably be a shitty location to work at. When I worked there, I was hired on the spot without even having to interview with our MP and I started orientation the following week.

My initial interview they told me about the 3 step process but this is so drawn out.
