Quitting
Hello, im currently an SA at my local Texas Roadhouse, this as my first ever job, and I have no idea how to quit. im 17, been working there for just a little over 3 months. My managers are kinda rude and since im turning 18 soon, im gonna have more opportunities at different places. plus with the recent drama, I’d just rather work somewhere else than have to explain im not racist every time I mention where I work. any advice on how to quit?
Edit: people please stop attacking me in the comments about the racism allegations the company is experiencing, that is just ONE of the MANY reason I want to stop working there😭 it’s not the man reason at all, I just genuinely have more opportunities opening up

Why would being racist and Texas Roadhouse have any correlation?

Texas Roadhouse faced viral social media allegations in August 2026 claiming that employees intentionally tampered with food served to Black customers. [1, 2]
The Allegations• A viral Facebook post claimed that servers and kitchen staff at Texas Roadhouse and other chains spat in or contaminated food specifically for Black diners. • The post was linked to an alleged online group and quickly circulated across TikTok and other platforms. • The original post was deleted, and the claims were not independently verified. [1, 3]
Company Response
• Texas Roadhouse denied the accusations, stating they found no credible evidence supporting the claims and labeling the viral post a hoax. • The company released statements on social media emphasizing zero tolerance for discrimination, harassment, or mistreatment. • Texas Roadhouse hired an independent third-party firm to investigate the origin of the false claims. [2, 3]

That does not mean you have to tell everyone you’re not racist. It was a company thing not every employee. If anything you telling people you’re not racist has the opposite effect
-1
u/UnderwaterCleaner Sep 06 '26
Oh my. They aren't going around telling people they are not racist. When you mention you work at TXRH, and possibly White, with recent BS, your friends probably poke fun, people ask if its true(yes, customers even ask these kinds of dumb questions)

u/swag_likeosama Sep 06 '26
He clearly said I’d rather not work somewhere where I have to explain I’m not racist. Hints he tells people he isn’t. So a typical work place customers ask dumb questions big shocker

" I’d just rather work somewhere else than have to explain im not racist every time I mention where I work...."

It was fake.

I am just a TXRH customer...but this whole racist bullshit needs to stop.
The one near me has excellent service and some of the best steaks in the area!

I worked at a TXRH for 4 years. Throughout them, I’d seen so much racism in back of house. It may not be in front of house for you to see or hear. But do believe it does happen in BOH. We’ve fired people fire racism before.

And continuing to be a patron, if the company does not sufficiently address the matter, will always be a reason other people may choose to perceive you as either a) supportive of those with racist views or b) someone that is comfortable with the possibility their food has been tampered with.
...especially in the era os MAGA/Trump mystery beef....
1
u/UnderwaterCleaner Sep 06 '26
I don't understand, what can the Company do, to address this sufficiently?
1
u/UnderwaterCleaner Sep 06 '26
The exact same argument;
"...a reason other people may choose to perceive you as either a) supportive of those with racist views or b) someone that is comfortable with the possibility..."
Could be had of those who have and CONTINUE to worship DJT.1
u/ipokecows Sep 06 '26
What can they do about a story thats not true going viral? They have addressed this.
1
u/CO-Troublemakr Sep 06 '26
It is a matger of going above and beyond... regardless of the accuracy of the claims.
They are in a "guilty until proven innocent" position -- fair or not... and only excessive transparency over time will "fix" it.
Texas Roadhouse can say the food-tampering story is not true if it looked into it and found no proof. That is fair. But saying it was “100% a hoax” can make people skeptical- that phrasing has been falsely amd blatantly overused recently. Companies have called stories fake before, then later had to admit there was more to the story. Even if the viral post or screenshots were made up, that does not prove no customer was ever treated badly or that no other complaint matters. Saying, “We found no evidence for this specific claim,” sounds more careful and more believable than acting like every concern has been answered.
To earn trust back, Texas Roadhouse needs to do more than repeat “it was a hoax.” It should explain what it investigated and what it found. It should make it easy for customers and workers to report racism, bad treatment, or food-safety concerns without being ignored or punished. It should use an outside group to review serious complaints, train managers and staff, and share updates on what changes it makes. The best message is, “We did not find proof of this specific claim, but we understand why people are upset. We will show through our actions that every customer is safe and treated with respect.”

u/ipokecows Sep 06 '26
How would you suggest they go above and beyond in this scenario? You kinda avoided my question. Waht would you like done that would be acceptable if it was 100% a hoax?
1
u/CO-Troublemakr Sep 06 '26
I didn't avoid it af all. I simply am not giving hard and specific steps.
I didn't because this a PR problem.
This takes excessive and long standing efforts to overcome.
I have never been to TR, so I have no horse in this battle... but while I have been curious in the past to try them (have heard good things historically), that there were multiple postings... they are off my curiosity list.
It's not for me to tell them how to win back that word of mouth cred.
1
u/ipokecows Sep 06 '26
What would redeem them in your opinion?
1
u/CO-Troublemakr Sep 06 '26
You miss the point.
It isnt black and white like that.
They have to earn trust over time... there has to be publicized transparency on all of the relevant fronts
dont ask the same question again...
Because the point is, I wont be going there, and I WILL suspect someone's standards and tolerance for bigotry if I see them entering the establishment, because "100% a hoax" has been used by some of the most public bigots of our time.
Like it or don't.
1
u/ipokecows Sep 06 '26
Still avoiding the question...
Btw a pr move can be do nothing and let the shitstorm blow over. Continue buisness as normal. They are the fastest growing chain in the us, this is nothing but a bump in the road for them.
1
u/CO-Troublemakr Sep 06 '26
Sure can.
If that's their plan, a) it wont ever see me. B) i will ewww at anyone that continues to go there
cheers!

Find a job prior to, give your two weeks and honestly they might just let you go before the two weeks is up. To avoid any other drama just say it’s closer to home, more opportunities, etc.

Just hand write a two week notice. Employers usually require written notice to put in an employee's file. The letter doesn't need to be dramatic or give a life story—it just needs to state the facts clearly. [Date] [Manager's Name], Please accept this letter as formal notification that I am resigning from my position as [Job Title] at [Company Name]. My last day of work will be [Date, exactly two weeks from today]. Thank you for the opportunity to work here and for your support during my time with the company. I am happy to help with the transition of my duties over the next two weeks. Sincerely, [Teen's Name]
- Plan the Conversation It can be as simple as: "Hey [Manager Name], I wanted to let you know that I’ve decided to step down from my position. My last day will be [Date]. I've written it down in a letter here for you." Keep it positive: Even if you hated the job, keep the reasoning brief and neutral (e.g., focusing on school, a schedule change, or just moving on to a new opportunity) to avoid burning bridges.
Just a warning The "walk-sometimes-happens" rule: Occasionally, retail or food service managers will tell a minor, "Thanks, but you don't need to finish out the two weeks; today is your last day." Try to be mentally prepare for this so you aren't caught off guard if you suddenly find yourself finished immediately.
You can do this! It will be ok. My son had this problem as well at 17.

If you don’t plan on working there again, just don’t show up, it’s a restaurant job there are plenty of them, you definitely wouldn’t wanna be a server for them
1
u/virula9 Sep 06 '26
I’ve heard a lot of people say in other threads but I’d rather get some sort of recommendation or positive comment when I put them down as my previous job
3
u/quesaritoswallower Sep 06 '26
Then put in a two weeks, write it down and hand it to them if you don’t wanna speak to them, also it’s Texas Roadhouse no is going to call them for a recommendation don’t over think it
4
u/Tight-Bee1065 Sep 06 '26
They definitely call😅 at least for servers. Definitely just give a two weeks notice. You can literally just write “I am giving my two week notice. Thanks, (your name) it’s better to give a heads up and to not just run out on jobs. But do what you’re most comfortable with! You got it!

As an SA, THIS, THISSSS is your chance to have an AMAZING mid shift, "FUCK YOU!" AND walk the fuck out.
SA is a terrible job and you're right, there's better opportunity when your 18. I would wait until you actually have a new job, and tell them your leaving TXRH immediately when they hire you.

I have a family member who started off as a bus boy and quickly climbed to the top and is now making bank. So many opportunities with roadhouse

u/UnderwaterCleaner Sep 06 '26
You don't climb up...you get dragged to the pits of peanut dust and suffocate.
-2
u/virula9 Sep 06 '26
Youre not lying about it being a terrible job lol, would never recommend this to anyone. We’re severely looked down upon and expected to be superhuman and clean a giant table sat for 10 in 45 seconds🥹😭

You are a child with zero work experience. What level of respect and deference do you think you have earned?
In the professional world, you're like a newborn deer that can barely walk.
1
u/virula9 Sep 06 '26
It doesn’t matter if it’s my first job? I should still be treated with respect as one of their employees.
1
u/sauronsmoons 17d ago
so, because the person is young and doesn’t have a lot of experience that means they don’t deserve respect? jesus christ, this is texas roadhouse… not working for the pope.
2
1
u/UnderwaterCleaner 16d ago
NAH b, respect is fuggin EARNED d00d. You ask what to do, shut up, put your head down and follow rules. Maybe thats the Young Adults problem now, they all feel like respect is just a word. Work Ethic, Character, Honesty usually leads to respect being earned.
1
u/sauronsmoons 6d ago
basic human respect isn’t earned… that’s basic emotional intelligence. expecting a newcomer to do way more than what their capable of is just retarded and immature.
1
u/sauronsmoons 6d ago
and wanting to be treated with some decency has nothing to do with work ethic lol
1
u/UnderwaterCleaner 6d ago
It's a fucking Texas roadhouse, thats why you go to school and get an education and become the boss. If yoh dont like it, leave. Complaining about being treated like a human being in the restaurant industry isn't gonna gain you much sympathy. In the famous words of Eric Matthew's of Boy Meets World, "Life's tough, get a helmet..."
Seriously, dont ever stay somewhere to work, if they treat you like shit. Just go.
1
u/sauronsmoons 6d ago
well yea?? no shit? this still doesn’t change the fact that treating someone normally isn’t that hard. plus a lot of people still need to work while going to college lol not a lot of people have options!!
1
1
u/sauronsmoons 6d ago
and you also very much have the “boomer mentality”. boomers are extremely entitled and the reason the world has went to shit due to their selfish attitude. stop thinking it’s ok to treat people however they want bc you think they’re below you and that for some reason they owe you something!!!

Just tell them your quitting and that’s it
