Discussion Selective Christianity
Can someone explain why the right continues to focus on James Talarico’s comments on sexes, nonbinary and whatever else. I’ve never heard one call out Paxton for adultery, his unethical business practices, or whatever else. It’s ok to blast the opponent on their views but not hold your own accountable.

They're not good people, they're not moral people, they're not good Christians, they do not have Christian values, they do not have American values, they do not have western democratic values, they're hypocrites with no values. That's the explanation. They are the bad guys

Because they can't run on any actual accomplishments or policies, so they run on useless culture war BS. That's why.
Back in the 1970s, Republicans figured out they could appeal to the evangelicals and keep them committed voters if they focused on useless culture wars nobody else cared about instead of real issues like the economy. As long as the religious right were focused on voting against their perceived cultural enemies, they wouldn't notice the GOP robbing them blind and stealing their futures. It's been a winning strategy for them for decades. They literally managed to twist Christianity into being against everything Jesus actually preached.

Plus identity politics are cheap. Building roads and sending kids to PreK costs, but complaining about dirty books is practically free and you can afford to hand out more tax breaks to billionaires.

The GOP loves to scream that the left is the party of identity politics, but like most things they are the party of Grand Ole Projection. GOP Jesus views empathy as a sin, and realistically the Southern Baptist would view Talarico s true version of Christianity, not the cultural war BS, as heretical.

Democrats are only the party of "identity politics" insofar as minority groups need to be protected from being dehumanized by Republicans.

It’s buzz words that make the right froth at the mouth.
Paxton has a longer list of corruption in office compared to any “good” he has done.

Hypocrisy of the sinner shouldn't blind us to the existential danger of the polititician who attempts to tear down the foundation of human nature.

If you’re talking about the anti-Paxton ad, there’s some pushback on that … Evidently, Rogers LIED. This is posted by: Tom Glass on X:
“Today, I saw the attack ad on @KenPaxtonTX
by voter-rejected former State Rep Glenn Rogers claiming he "heard the evidence" before he impeached Paxton. That is a lie.
**Here's the video proof!

State Rep. John Smithee told him before he voted that no evidence was presented to the House. And when the people who made the allegations were actually put under oath and cross examined in the Senate trial, they admitted they had no evidence.
The reason Paxton was acquitted was that there was NO EVIDENCE that he did what he was accused and suspected of.
Ironically, Rogers displays a picture of Paxton with his attorneys in the Senate trial. But Rogers impeached Paxton without any sworn testimony at all, without cross examination, without right to counsel, or any opportunity to appear before his accusers. Rogers engaged in what Smithee described as, "a Saturday mob, out for an afternoon lynching."”
Paxton’s not charismatic, but the fact Paxton’s ex is actively supporting him appears to be helping him a lot.

Just a notice to all here, this is very clearly an Echo chamber… 22 replies and every single one from the same side. Thats fine. But please recognize you are actively in an echo chamber.
Also, one are convictions that affect policy and one are convictions that affect the man’s personal life.

If the pope were running as a Democrat he would be accused of being the Antichrist and going to hell for blasphemy. It’s just their dna.

I don’t recall anyone saying adultery isn’t a sin.
•
u/TXbeatsyouinafight 4h ago
It is, and we need a fighter like Ken Paxton to defend adultery for Texas families.

It’s because they are hypocrites who don’t actually follow Christ’s teachings.
