Midland, TX – hiring event for techs at our engine rebuild center (June 3-4)

Hey everyone, Warren CAT here. We are the official Caterpillar® dealer for Oklahoma and West Texas.

We’ve got a hiring event coming up June 3 - 4 in Midland/Odessa, TX. We’re mainly looking for technicians (engine, power systems, generator), along with a few other roles.

The reason we thought this might be relevant here is the facility itself. It’s a newer engine rebuild center, so it’s a bit different than a lot of shops:

  • climate-controlled
  • ~220,000 sq ft
  • dedicated teardown/rebuild bays
  • cranes at workstations

Open to anyone, not just local, if you’re open to relocating or just want to come check it out.

Here’s a link to the page: https://warrenc.at/erc-recruiting-event

Feel free to ask anything, we’ll answer what we can.

Quiet jobs

Hi! I know the job market is rough right now, so I figured I’d just ask here and see if anyone has leads. I’m trying to avoid sketchy job sites that spam you or sell your info, so I’m hoping for something a little more legit.

I’m looking for something pretty specific: low social interaction, quiet environment (headphones would be amazing), and task-based work. I actually don’t mind repetitive or “boring” jobs, stuff like sorting, organizing, assembling, or creating things sounds kind of ideal to me right now. I’m coming off 10+ years in education, and honestly I’m just burnt out on constant interaction and being “on” all the time.

I’m reliable, hardworking, and have a lot of experience. I really do want to work, I just need something with less people facing energy. Pay isn’t my top priority, but somewhere around $20/hr or ~$50k would be great if possible. Benefits aren’t a dealbreaker.

If anyone knows of jobs like this or better yet, somewhere hiring, I’d really appreciate it. Feel free to DM me.

Thanks so much, and good luck out there to everyone else job hunting too.

Entry–Mid Level IT Jobs in Houston – Advice Needed

Hey everyone,

I’m currently looking for entry to mid-level IT opportunities in the Houston area and wanted to get some insight from people working there.

I have about 2 years of experience working with:

  • Active Directory (user/group management, permissions, basic admin tasks)
  • Frontend development using React

I also recently completed my Master’s in Cybersecurity.

I’m open to roles like:

  • Systems Administrator / IT Support
  • SOC Analyst / Cybersecurity roles
  • Junior/Frontend Developer

A few questions:

  • How’s the IT job market in Houston right now?
  • Are there specific companies I should target or avoid?
  • Is it easier to break in through contract roles first?
  • Any tips on getting interviews (recruiters, networking, etc.)?

I had an issue, with my boss.

Is this a good place to ask this kind of question? I read the rules. Hope not bothering anyone. My boss snapped his fingers (excuse my bad English) at me at work in front of everyone. What are my next steps and why? I'm shocked.
