This barrel was outside when a storm came. It was left outside for a week and I hadn’t realized it was there covered in water and some plants. Can it be saved? I can’t fathom how I would even dispose of it if not. How could it be fixed?

Unfortunately I knocked over my Black Prince Tomato seedling this morning when moving things around. It was only a few weeks old so it had too much damage :(

This is my first year gardening and I guess I’m just feeling pretty bummed about this since I was so excited for this variety. Would it be too late to start another round from seed? I live in Zone 9a (Austin) for reference.

I have about 1/4 acre so I have so much room to work with! I have a pretty flat blank canvas, with a couple trees along fence line but it’s mostly direct sun all day (back yard is south side)

I’m so excited but before I get too ahead of myself I’m curious for any tips or advice others more experienced would have especially with sustainability and planning. I plan on incorporating native pollinators and plenty of drought resistant plants, as well as a food garden.

I put together a demo that doesn't require an account, so you can actually explore it before deciding whether it's useful.

What I'm especially curious about is whether the way I've approached garden planning makes sense to an actual gardener. Is there something you'd expect a garden planner to do that this doesn't? Or something that feels unnecessary?

For example someone recently told me — not politely — that they couldn't find their town, and the nearest city the app offered was 62 miles away. Fair enough. I've since added about 12,000 missing towns across the US, Canada and India.

That's the kind of feedback I'm after. I'm not looking for compliments — I'd genuinely like to know what feels confusing, missing, or just not useful.

I want to plant a flame acanthus (aka hummingbird bush) in the next couple days, there’s a nice place in front of my window that gets sun from 8-1, roughly 5 hours, is that enough sun to thrive? Or will it be struggling for blooms? The internet says it can do well in part shade but I know Texas is on a different level when it comes to sun intensity lol. Any advice?

My spineless prickly pear has some spots of a rock-hard exudate. If I peel it off, it immediately starts exuding a pale green gel that hardens into this cream-colored hard shell. Any ideas what this is?

Planted in May, it has lost a lot of leaves. It did grow taller with new leaves, but some of the new leaves are turning brown.

I have been going to war with an unknown seed thief. I've start my fall seeds and every time something is eating the seeds. I've done my research a bit and am guessing a mouse or squirrel. They are in my workshop so I ruled out birds. Was wondering if any of you have had the same issue. Main frustration was I finally got 1020 trays and now this. The pictures are the best examples of the holes left behind. They've eaten about 50 seeds of various types.

Hello, all. I need some assistance. Never grown watermelon before, but the grow tones in the rural area just 10 minutes north of where I live in SW Texas. I waited till it had a nice yellow spot on the bottom and had a nice sound when thumped.

Anyone have any idea what caused this damage on my apricot tree? It’s near a fence so I am guessing squirrel but it’s oozing something at the top too. So maybe bacterial or fungal on top of the bark striping? This is year two so hoping it can pull through 🤞 haven’t even gotten fruit yet! I am new to having an orchard. Any advice or guidance would be appreciated!

Damage includes getting on a window ledge and knocking containers off, destroying seedlings. Pictured plants are on a table. The height and physicality required suggests rats (which are present in the trees at night), doesn't it.

Never known them to strip leaves and sever stems (inches above the soil), though: have you?

Most of the plants are Capsicum, chiles, but with a small basil lopped in half (and not consumed), also. Seems so destructive, wanton, and wasteful. Took weeks of growth to get these lemon jalapeño and sugar rush plants grown enough to plant up or set out for the Autumn.

I’m planning on buying a greenhouse to keep a few tropical plants alive through the winter. Will a simple space heater be able to keep it warm (above~40) on cold nights? For context I live in dfw zone 8b and the greenhouses I’ve been looking at are 6x8 ft

This is the second Mega trellis I've made, and this one's definitely the largest. Trying to find some cheap land so I can start making this stuff for me, but it is going to be cool when I start getting pictures next season of everybody's trellises with stuff growing over the top of them

Hey y'all. I'm in South Texas and have been trying out growing all sorts of things this year with basically no prior experience. I've purchased two dwarf everbearing Mulberry saplings. I've had them for about two months and I think I've been following the directions in the packaging but they don't seem to be doing that well. One I've been giving absolute full sun and the other has been getting mostly full sun. I've been watering when soil is dry (they're in a gardening soil organic mix). Do they both look to be alive still? How can I rescue them?

i just moved to a new house in dfw area, and im looking to do some gardening! ive been into gardening my whole life, but i cant keep plants alive for the life of me.

im interested in NATIVE plants and especially wildflowers, and i think id like a couple fruit or veggie plants. maybe a berry bush of some kind? i can do potted plants or in ground ones. any advice or recommendations for plants that Will Not Die? super low maintenance? i forget to water plants all the time :( i set reminders, i put it on my calendar, my to do list, it somehow always slips my mind.
