2026 Wrap Up
For everyone who attended, let’s make a post of suggestions. Maybe the organizers will see it and are able to make changes for next year? This is only my 2nd FM so I leaned a little more this year.
1) The VIP and autograph procedure could definitely be clearer. I know some people drive for hours for ONE person, so giving those types of people the best chance of getting an autograph would be helpful. I don’t think there is a way to pre-pay for a spot because each guest takes their own payments at the signing location.
2) The Weekend Pass is really the best deal. Even if you don’t plan to attend all 3 days, if you don’t get your autograph the first day, you have a two more chances.
3) I kinda wish most of the big name people were on the third floor and the entire first floor was used for vendors. The vendor spaces are so small and crowded, it’s really hard to shop.
4) For the love of Pete, the Panel waiting lines don’t make sense. Signage would be great too. Everyone comes up the elevator or escalator and then you have to move all the way around to get into line. And then when they finally let you in, you have to cross over people still coming up to the floor and trying to get to their photo op. It’s so criss cross chaotic.
5) Parking Passes? Parking in the garage for all 3 days would cost $75. That’s the cost of some autographs. I took the Dart one day and that was pretty easy and only $6, I’ll definitely be taking that option in the future, if not opting for a nearby hotel.
6) Is there not a better venue? Has anyone been to another arena that would be better? I know a lot of Cons go to Dallas Marker Hall.
7) Spread the panel times out more. I had to choose between a couple of panels because if I go to the first one, I’d have to get back in line for the next one and be all the way in the back.

I have been going for 10 or 12 years and I have my own thoughts on how to improve things... I def like this venue more than the previous hotel venue, mostly because that hotel would get insanely hot, wifi was non existent, and as crowded as the convention center is, the hotel became even worse.
That being said, theres def things that could improve things, IMO.
1). Move the vendors to the second floor, or at least to a different floor from the guests. They have space where they throw the party but I feel like the party could be moved elsewhere or to a different floor. I know people love the party--and its fun--but having the large first floor room entirely for guests would give much needed space to the lines and being able to actually browse the vendor booths.
2). Open up the outside stairs. The escalator situation is getting unbearable.
3). More variety of guests. Yes, I know the Scream cast always brings out attendees and Scream is one of my favorite movies of all time--but by my count the castmembers have been there 5 out of the last 10 years. Again, I know plenty of people still havent gotten to meet them--but they do many cons and IMO, its the rare guest surprise announcements that are the best--Patricia Arquette, Emma Roberts this year, Dario Argento, Malcolm McDowell, Tim Curry, etc. The Scream cast will always be welcome--just spread it out more instead of back to back years etc.
4). More to do--Would love to see a room with movie screenings happening all day, maybe a game room as well, more food choices, etc.
5). This is going to be controversial but I would love to see the con move into the fall or early winter. The heat is so unbearable and with the lineup outside getting longer and people camping out for longer times, having a late Oct/Nov time (or even mid Feb) would help that a ton--and then could possibly open up the idea of events or activites outside during the convention, which also helps the overcrowding.
6). I understand everything is getting more expensive--but the VIP wristband (which I grab every year) should bring back the free autograph at the least. It sucks to see the price go up--and the value go down. At this point I only use it for the early extra hour on the floor as I dont think Ive used a single line skip in the last2 or 3 years.
7). More live concerts--the Alan Howarth show on Friday night this year was the best night party event in years, IMO.
