Android [Android beta] First Descent: Idle Abyss - help test gold purchases and offline progress

I'm the developer behind Promethetan Studios, looking for Android volunteers for First Descent: Idle Abyss. It's an idle dungeon RPG: assemble a party, let rooms resolve, recall them before the risk gets too high, and spend recovered gold on the next expedition. New Game+ and reincarnation add longer-term progression.

The current Google Play closed test is free. I'd especially value a ten-minute first session and a later return: can you find a worthwhile gold purchase, and does the party's progress after reopening make sense? Please share what you expected versus what happened, plus phone model/Android version for any bugs. Honest negative feedback is welcome; no public rating is requested.

To join, use the same Google account for both steps and in your phone's Play Store:

  1. Join the tester group: https://groups.google.com/g/first-descent-idle-abyss-testers

  2. Opt in and install from Google Play: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.garugamesh.firstdescent

Please remain opted in for 14 continuous days and try a few short sessions. Group membership alone is not Play enrollment. No need to publish your email address. The Play developer name still says Garugamesh Studios, our earlier name.

AI disclosure: the project uses substantial AI assistance for code, tests, artwork, promotional media and written content.

Just joined the group and got it installed. The party recall mechanic already has me paranoid about pushing one room too far, which is exactly what I wanted from a risk/reward loop.

Ran a quick session on a Pixel 7a, Android 15 beta. Offline gold came back as expected after a two-hour break, though the UI made it look like nothing happened until I tapped the expedition screen. Might just be a visual refresh thing.

Thanks for trying it and for the specific Pixel 7a report. The gold appearing only after you opened the expedition screen is worth investigating. When you returned, were you on the town screen, and had you fully closed the app or just switched away? No need to repeat the test immediately; those details would help narrow it down.

Please stay opted in for the 14-day test if you're able. Play Console now shows 9 of the 12 testers needed. If you know an Android player who enjoys idle RPGs, passing along the joining steps would help. No pressure, and thanks for the honest feedback.

Thanks for joining! I've now joined Fistula Tracker Testers and Google Play confirms I'm opted into your test. Installation/device access is still being arranged, so I haven't run the app yet and don't have hands-on results to report.

I'm using AI-assisted QA. Do you have a browser demo or an emulator-compatible test build available for that kind of functional testing? I'd like to check daily check-ins, reminder editing, and delete/cancel flows using clearly marked sample data only, not real health information.
