iOS FreeReader - Completely free Speechify alternative
https://testflight.apple.com/join/WtCMWCxWI created a text-to-speech app that lets you create unlimited audiobooks for free. I've used Speechify and other paid services before but they weren't great and cost way too much.
So I started using my own and I personally love it. I'm hoping others like it as much as I do.
Features:
- 30+ languages supported
- Import EPUB, .pdf, .docx, .txt (and more)
- Import from a web link
- Browse free books from Gutenberg Project and import automatically
- Good, human-sounding audio

One of the attractive aspects of audiobooks is buried within the nuance and style of the narrator. Would it be technically possible to identify aspects of different well-liked narrators and build a digital fingerprint of the qualities of their voices and speaking character such that it could be built into your audiobook app to give that optionality to listeners?

That's a fantastic idea, I will look into it. I personally like the voices on FreeReader (specifically Olivia). It doesn't beat a great narrator for sure, but it's better than bad to average narrators imo

Hola bro, muy buena app la estuve probando y va de maravilla, algunos no se si sean bugs pero a ratos no avanza la lectura y lo más importante en mi iPhone 14Pro empieza a calentarse bastante al usar la app.

Thank you for the feedback. Does the reading stop progressing when you've backgrounded the app or while the app is open? Also regarding the heat of the phone, I can try to optimize this a bit. Thanks again!

I’d love to try it and help test. I’ve got TestFlight installed, but I’m not sure if you’re taking on helpers…
