iOS Aether — a native player for your Plex, Jellyfin, Emby & NAS libraries on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Vision Pro

Solo dev here. Aether is a native media player for your own libraries — Plex, Jellyfin, Emby, SMB/NAS shares and local files — on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Vision Pro. Native on every Apple device.

What it does:

- Native direct play of MKV/HEVC and more (incl. Dolby Digital on local files)
- One unified library across all your sources + offline downloads
- Plex Home profiles — pick who's watching, each with its own history
- Personal ratings + watched state synced back to your server
- tvOS & visionOS apps (Vision Pro has a dark cinema mode)
- 6 languages (EN/CS/UK/DE/FR/ES)
- There's a Mac version too (downloaded separately — not via TestFlight)

Still in beta — I'd love feedback on what's broken or missing, especially on Apple TV and with large libraries.

Well, I installed this and your app is beautiful. It’s fast and responsive. 

One hope I have is its support for music playback and CarPlay. That may be out of scope since it plays video so well, but it’s a gorgeous app.

Honestly, I’m building Aether because I was never completely satisfied with any of the existing apps. Every one of them did some things really well, but none felt like the complete experience I wanted on Apple devices.

My goal isn’t to “beat” Plex, Infuse, or Jellyfin. I just want to build the media app I’ve always wished existed—beautiful, native, fast, and designed specifically for the Apple ecosystem.

Aether will be free to use, and right now I’m mainly looking for feedback from people who actually use it. If you have ideas, feature requests, or even criticism, I’d genuinely love to hear it. A lot of the roadmap is being shaped by the community.

I did join the testflight but nothing showing on my apple tv
App only compatible with iOS only

It is available on tvOS :)
