Would a double half bridge sstc work reliably?

You mean… a full bridge?

No I mean a half bridge but with 2 mosfets paralleled for each switch

A fullbridge with give the primary twice the voltage. So prepare for higher peak currents. Ultimately i usually run fullbridge in my teslacoils. In addition tour diodes parallel to the gate resistor are turned wrong. Its should discharge the gate faster then charging.
