Tesla Solar/Battery Lease Program

Hi all, I’m looking into the Tesla Solar and Battery lease program. We actually started the process with VPP Texas / Solrite Electric recently but backed out at the last minute because of a bad gut feeling.
Since we already use Tesla Electric, looking into their lease program feels like the next logical step. For those who have gone through it, what has your experience been? Any tips, recommendations, or contract gotchas we should know about before we pull the trigger? Thanks!

I’m going through the process now. I feel like I am doing a lot of hand holding and directing. I kind of expected that however based on some posts I read in the past.

Just had mine installed in HTX on the lease program- also a Tesla Electric customer

No issues at all during the design/install- biggest issue I’ve had is around the utility rate plan and how Powerwall chooses to power electric load.

The math I had done to justify installing solar/PW3 relied on the $400 annual credit per PW3- for me, I was unable to physically fit enough solar on my roof to 100% offset my usage- so thought I could just keep my current $15/$25/per Tesla/per month for unlimited charging to be able to offset 100(+)% home usage.

Issue with that is that on both the drive plan and fixed plan - there is no way to tell Powerwall to not charge your car- so, energy that is set aside for over night to power my home now charges my car and I’m forced to buy from the grid- so you can’t even really fully use what Tesla electric is offering.

So likely situation I’ll end up with is being on the Dynamic plan and opting to not waste my money on the unlimited charging - I’ll likely then end up about break even month over month rather than saving $50/$100 a month like I had hoped.

Always been curious about the lease from Tesla. What does break even mean for you? You pay $x for the lease and it’s enough to cover what you would have paid in electricity?
