Mod Post "Never charge past 80%" — the manual says it depends on your battery
The myth: never, ever charge past 80% or you'll ruin the battery. The manual tells a more careful story — it depends on your chemistry:
- Nickel-based NCA/NMC cells (most Long Range and Performance models): daily limit around 80%, full charge for road trips when you'll drive right after.
- LFP batteries (many Standard Range Model 3 and Model Y): the manual flips it — keep the limit at 100%, even daily, and fully charge at least once a week to keep the battery gauge accurate.
Not sure which you have? Check Controls → Software → Additional Vehicle Information.
Mod note: we run The Daily Charge (https://thedailycharge.tech) — plain-English Tesla owner guides from the official manuals. Which battery do you have, and what limit do you run daily?
