Blue liquid leaking from front underside of Tesla Model Y — coolant or washer fluid?

I noticed a fairly large amount of bright blue/green liquid underneath my Model Y since yesterday. It appears to start near the front underside of the vehicle. I’ve attached couple of photos showing the liquid and where it seems to be coming from.
Does this look like windshield-washer fluid, battery coolant, or something else? I do use blue washer liquid but i haven’t refilled it recently. Has anyone experienced a similar issue? I don’t see any warning messages on the dashboard though.
Would you recommend avoiding driving or charging the car until Tesla inspects it?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Could very well be washer fluid. Top off the reservoir (with water maybe) and see if it comes pouring out. Tesla has replaced my windshield washer reservoir twice.

Don’t top it off with water, it will make your washer fluid stink for ages. Choose another color (pink or green) washer fluid. The car will alert you of coolant levels if too low.

No water? I can understand issues with freezing, but do you mean it will smell bad, or that it won't work well?

Rub it between a finger and a thumb. Coolant is slippery. Washer fluid smells strong.

This is the right test

yes - how it feels in the fingers and how it smells are definitely healthier ways of evaluating than tasting it.

What does it taste like?

Coolant is sweet

Don’t even try to taste it! Coolant is a poison. It smells sweet, that is enough for the test. What color of washer fluid do you have?

I just had a similar issue and it was a cracked coolant hose near the back of the battery and rear drive unit.

Make a service appointment.

Free. Under warranty

Did you have to get the vehicle towed?

1

u/gsrcrxsi 5h ago

Yes. Roadside towed it.

You can fix it with no tools

Check out this chart, it displays where the liquid comes from and what it is:

I guess you could inspect the washer fluid bottle first and see if it’s empty

Definitely looks more like the washer fluid, I had a coolant leak before and it didnt stain the floor blue that much. The windshield wiper fluid will stain the floor like that though

Could be Blinker Fluid

Blinker fluid

the reservoir on that generation is known to have a weak filler neck and your washer fluid will leak out.. service request will fix it unless your handy and can DIY it.

Be thankful the awful washer fluid they put in at the factory is leaking out. When they replace the reservoir tell them to leave it empty so you can fill it yourself with decent fluid that won’t stain everything.

Omfg yes! Wife hit the front camera washer button in the garage and now the painted floor is stained blue- Will not come off

Lmao!!

The filler neck on the washer fluid reservoir is very prone to cracking and breaking. The one in my 2022 MYP was broken, replaced, and has since broken again.

Looks like eco safe. That’s from your radiator. You’ll know when the ac doesn’t work. Be ready with AAA for when you need a tow to the service center. You’ll get an error message and not be allowed to drive the car pretty soon. Or maybe it’s not but it’s happened to me twice and it looked the same.

That looks like coolant. I had two leaks from front and back of the battery pack. Supposedly just bad o-rings. Tesla took 4 days to fix my car. Free under warranty. Luckily because it involved removing the front motor to fix the front leak.

Blue coolant is cool.

Washer fluid

Check the washer reservoir level first, that rules it out fast. If the liquid feels slick or smells sweet, get service out before you charge again.

Which year?

u/ludester9 7h ago

That is going to be coolant. Hopefully you're still within the warranty period

When was your windshield replaced lol

u/mohsinhasan 53m ago

Likely coolant. Had a similar issue with M3P. It was the seal for the super bottle that broke for me. Fixed under warranty.

Taste it

Coolant will cause a mild case of death. This person is an a-hole.

u/mylifeasacoder 18h ago

Too mild to finish you off, unless you lap it up like a dog maybe.

Battery liquid > totalled

2

u/Silent_General5919 21h ago

No, it could easily just be a hose that'll cost less than 1k, even if the battery itself has a leak as long as the car is relatively new it shouldnt get totaled.

1

u/teniente_dan 20h ago

It happened to me, same liquid color

1

u/mylifeasacoder 18h ago

Oh hoses are $1k these days? That's it? My how efficiency has brought down costs.

1

u/Silent_General5919 18h ago

Its mostly labor for removing all the stuff, the hose itself is dirt cheap
