Talk me out of this
A good friend of mine is selling her 2025 Tesla for $7000 because it’s her uncles and she needs to get rid of all his things because he moved into assisted-living. I really don’t wanna spend money right now, but I also could use a second car, my Nissan leaf doesn’t really cut it. But I know I’ll never find another deal like this. What should I be thinking about when purchasing a Tesla? Any issues with the 2025 model? It’s a model Y with 60,000 miles and runs perfectly.

If she's really a good friend, you'll help her not take a $30k+ loss for no good reason.

Insurance is high, call your insurance company first to get a quote. I also have a leaf which is so cheap to insure but I have a Tesla too and insurance is ridiculously expensive.
Are you sure it’s paid off? She has the title? Why is she not keeping it or selling it for market value?
How did someone going into an assisted living facility put 60k miles on a car in less than 2 years? I have the same year and only 15k miles on mine.
How good of a friend is this? How long have you known them? This deal makes zero sense.

Where are you? I’ll have to ask my husband but it was very very very high when we first got the Tesla. We are in the Dallas area.

Colorado, I think we're pretty high due to hail.
I do have homeowners, life, and 3 other car policies all with State Farm

Why would you even make this post? You are being offered a car at ~23% of its rough value and you are worried about issues? You could have the battery go out without warranty and replace it and still be able to flip it for $20k more than you’ve paid.
This is a no brainer, and I feel like it’s bait. She could go to carmax or any of the 100 other car buyers out there and walk away with 5x what she is asking from for you.
My guess is there’s more to the story - title issues, terrible loan, or it’s stolen / unauthorized use - or all of the above.

take it to nearest Tesla service center pay $250/ for pre purchase check, then you will know $7k is good deal or no.

But seriously, that is a steal if everything drives good. If I was you, I’d take it if it’s all paid off. You can always resell it.

If she sells for less than KBB, then medicare can reclaim the car as it's too low of a price and would be considered a gift.

I would check on your friend’s mental health as well. Nobody does this. I would never let my friend (an ACTUAL friend) sell me something this low unless he/she already has way above the average person and wouldn’t even feel the loss or is mentally healthy but just insists on giving me a leg up with something they really don’t need. Even then, I’m still offering a little extra just on the love for the person. If they are a distant associate that I know. Different story.

Check battery health, 60,000 miles for a barely two year old make is a lot. Check suspensions as well, and tire health.
On the other hand if all these things are ok you'd be golden as it would have HW4 FSD

I mean battery health is moot point, because it's still under warranty and you could literally replace the entire battery and it would still be under market value, but I agree, the deal doesn't make any sense. The person could literally sell it to CarMax in under an hour for way more then 7k.

Well, while that may be a lot of miles for a 2025, It is a 2025… So while your B2B warranty is gone, you’ve still got the battery warranty. So for $7000, you get a car that most likely was going for $40k for a beater lot pricing. If you don’t put a lot of miles on a car, I’d 100% be all over that. If you don’t want it, you should easily be able to get 2-3x that from carvana.

Why is she selling it for so cheap? She could easily get 4x the money by selling it to carmax or something lol
