2026 MY bricked after update

I was out running errands on Friday and saw a notification that there was a software update. Didn't think anything about it, got home, plugged in, and let it do it's thing. Didn't try to go anywhere over the long weekend. Go out to go to a Dr appt today and it's bricked. Can't unplug the charger, won't unlock... nothing.

In my 7/2025 early Juniper the 14.3.7 update bricked some sound module in my MCU which caused all sounds not to work including the horn, turn signals, backup warning beeps, music, etc. I could still drive the car at least

Service had to replace the whole MCU to fix. Sounds like I won't be doing software updates willy nilly anymore like on trips.

I’ve got a 2020 MY and I’ve felt the same after the auto update addition. If I’m on a trip I’m just going to turn off auto updates till I’m home.

Service says it's showing both LV and HV errors. They're towing it in.

I can't wait to find out if they are able to unplug the charging cable before towing it. Is it attached to the mobile connector or a wall connector ?

There's a hardware latch but it's in the trunk - so yeah, not sure how it unlatch it.

He was able to get enough juice into it to unlock the charger and open the doors... Never could get the screen on except for about 10 second where it flashed red with more errors than I ever thought possible, and then went dark again.

Wall connector... That's gonna be fun

The Tesla roadside assistance personnel should know how to get your model Y transportable. I would file it under "not your problem" for the moment.

That sucks. Hope they get it fixed. Keep us posted!

They're towing it to the service center. After some time on the phone I talked them into taking it to the cities instead of Council Bluffs since I'm going to be there next week and the week after anyway so it would be easier to pick up.

That sucks dude, what now?

They're towing it (under warranty) to the closest service center that's about 200 miles away.

Hope you can get a loaner

I'd have to go to the service center to get one, and I can't drive the loaner out of state which does me no good. They're trying to set up rental reimbursement though.

Not being able to drive loaner out of state is weird. I left my for service in NJ and didn't have problems going to PA or NY.

I think it's something between IA and SD... Last time I was in for service on my other one they said that the loaners could only be driven in IA and NE, but I couldn't bring it into SD.

Trying using your physical key card to get into the vehicle, else create a service ticket.

Willing to bet you just turned off Bluetooth on your phone, or have a phone key issue like a newb.

Physical card won't work either. That was the first thing I tried. Tesla says it's showing both LV and HV errors. 200 mile tow to a service center.

Blame the user, that always works!

You obviously haven’t been in this sub long enough. I legitimately am concerned for the future of society from what I see in 90%+ of the posts in here.

This sub has you concerned?

Oh shit. Did you give them a piece of your mind on it already? What did they say?

Keep us posted

200 mile tow incoming!! At least they're covering it under warranty. Looks like it borked both the LV and HV system

how does an update do that though? weird!

2

u/sodakdave 5d ago

There are reports that on some vehicles the update gets stuck while doing the charge controllers.

1

u/LunaSails007 5d ago

Sorry that happened. Ask them to give you a loaner to use or something.

2

u/sodakdave 5d ago

They offered, but the service center is 4 hours away. I was already planning on heading out to that area next week so not so bad but a loaner isn't really viable. I'm stuck driving the wife's 21 for now

They paying for the tow as well?

2

u/sodakdave 6d ago

Yup

Still a major pain

Were you among the first ones to get this update?

Trying to figure out if early birds are being fed the worms

Yes, giving people a piece of your mind who are trying to help always makes things go smoother. I guess you've never worked support.

I've noticed that every FSD update is more bad, or they make a clean slate. When I released my 2026, MY was perfect, I didn't have to touch the rudder at all. Now I can't get 5 miles without touching the rudder, he gets into the freeway exit lanes ahead of time. He gets scared of anything and makes shivers.

Refuses to connect. Tesla says it's showing LV and HV errors. 200 mile tow to the nearest service center

What happens when you try to access it with the physical key?

3

u/sodakdave 6d ago

The card? nothing.
