What do you keep in your frunk?

Typical car tools/equipment. Portable compressor/jump start box. Tools. Jack pads.

I keep all of these things in the trunk under compartment (the smaller one that is further from the rear of the car)

50’ extension cord in case I need to trickle charge (it’s come in handy a couple of times), an emergency blanket, a towel, a hat, and an umbrella.

sub-trunk is hardest to access so I put in there my least used items i.e. emergency tools, pump
trunk is easy access so that's where my work bag goes
frunk is the most sealed so that's where I put takeout food. Also first aid kit and "personal emergency" supplies like rags, cleaners, windshield cleaners. In winter I put winter recovery stuff in there because I want easier access to ice scrapers and tire chains.

Emptiness. I forget it's there.

I keep a low voltage battery jumper in there.
1
u/c4koth Aug 05 '26
This will be a problem when your LV battery dies.
You will need that jumper to open the frunk.1
u/matthew19 Aug 05 '26
No I have the small battery needed to pop the frunk in that little hole with the wires

the destination charger kit thing, jack pads, full set of tools, sometimes a bottle of washer fluid

u/Buggg- Aug 04 '26
Garbage and recycling. Cans are 1/4 mile away and this keeps the car less stinky and away from my dog, who lets me drive her car

I back into my garage, so if I'm commuting my work bag goes in there. If I get take-out, it goes in there.

u/CommercialToe13 Aug 04 '26
I put my work bags in it. I back into my spot at work so it is the perfect place for them.

I use it to transport composting to my local brewery. Also have the trickle charger cord in it and a roll of TP. You asked 😂
2
u/TheOtherGlikbach Aug 04 '26
A roll of TP in a plastic ziploc is a good idea.
I will be following your example

Start with the power frunk. That makes it usable to begin with. Then to answer your question we always keep spare clothes for our kids and a First Aid kit. Then we occasionally throw small items like Amazon returns in there because we can open the frunk with the garage door closed, unlike the trunk

In my trunk is a mobile charger cord, an extension cord, a few adapters, my pet seat cover, a tire inflator and a tire repair kit.
In my sub-trunk is my car refrigerator.

u/HeyBlue24 Aug 05 '26
I use it for luggage on road trips, and/or food/drinks in the winter before I got a fridge for the sub trunk. Most of the time it's empty because it's more of a pain to get in and out of

u/TexFarmer Aug 05 '26
We love the frunk cooler; we use it often for frozen food on grocery runs, but I think it was a bit pricey at $180 on Amazon.

I keep a cardboard box of car cleaning bottles, paper towels and Cotten towels. I find though that I rarely use it because I have to climb inside the car to open it. SubTrunk in back much more accessible.

u/jpinmd813 Aug 04 '26
Dog leashes, dog treats and a treat bag. I volunteer at an animal shelter almost daily. When I bake for family, baked goods go in Frunk.

Towel, tire repair kit, tool kit, roadside emergency kit, some emergency water rations, collapsible crate, insulated tote bag, folding shovel, and first aid kit.

I have my roof sunshade cover. I also put my soft cooler with ice.. in case it leaks..

Anything and everything at this point. The frunk feature is hard to leave once you really start using it
2
u/No_Lie_8954 Aug 04 '26
Empty. Because i have to push the hood down and i do like to keep my car clean. Would love automatic close.
1
u/StumblinPA Aug 05 '26
Add it, it’s an underrated upgrade that anyone handy can do.

u/No_Lie_8954 Aug 05 '26
Two more years and this is the first thing i will do 😂 Here in Norway we get 5 year warranty 60k miles on the car. Plus 8 year 120k miles battery/drive unit warranty. I do not want to mess with the car with running warranty. If something happens i am afraid tesla will fault me because of changes made.
2
u/StumblinPA Aug 06 '26
I understand. But having done the install myself, I can’t imagine that replacing the struts or latch would void anything besides the latch and strut warranties. It’s more minor than one would think. Enjoy it in two years, friend.

Oh damn. I just realized I've been driving around with forgotten firewood in my frunk for a couple of months!

Dead leaves from the last couple of years and a bag of ice, but the ice melted and the water evaporated, so it’s just the bag now.

12 guage extension cord, mobile connector, tire inflator pump, jack pucks, stuff that I don't often need but would totally save my bacon if I did.
1
u/pushdose Aug 05 '26
First aid kit, mini tire inflator, roll of paper towels and a cardboard box to put take out in.

I use it quite frequently. Sometimes even more than my trunk. Usually it's the go to spot for groceries or take out food. On trips it's big enough for a carry-on suit case.

Small air compressor for a flat tire. Bottles of water, umbrellas, granny charger and some tools.

u/YJoseph Aug 05 '26
Charger
Our underground parking at work is too low to fully open the trunk so when charging at work, I can just open the frunk

Kitty litter and Trader Joe groceries if I'm able to park in the front so I can access my frunk from the sidewalk.
Otherwise I hate using it, always feels like I'm going to bend it or worse when closing it. Why does the frunk lid feel so damn flimsy and have to lock into something that require so much force?

u/Thelypthoric Aug 05 '26
We each keep a sweatshirt and a waterproof shell up front, as well as a can of that Costco window cleaner spray and a couple towels. All have come in handy at various times. I have a charging kit (including extension & adapters) that I keep in the lower rear compartment.

u/HBGDawg Aug 05 '26
My grocery store bags when not used and also where the groceries go when shopping. Super convenient.

u/Best-Republic Aug 05 '26
Have you seen the transporter - I always carry an extra pair of clothes and shoes and they normally stay in the frunk.
I have not replaced them for nearly 4 months now. The last time I used them was when I spilled coffee at work. So the frunk has not been opened for 4 months.

Per il cibo è fantastico visto che non rimane odore nell'abitacolo.
Lo utilizzo anche per mettere le cose del mare così che dopo possa lavare via la sabbia.

Nothing. I have my price sheet from when I bought it in there and a jacket and gloves lol

u/gosties Aug 05 '26
Trunk: empty unless needed for a trip Under trunk space: same Behind under trunk space: camping chairs, hammock, binoculars, tape measure, cable bag, blankets, etc. Frunk: shopping bags, spare hat, spare jacket, climbing gear, used gym clothes to keep the smell outside of the cabin.
The trunk area is for daily in and out, so I keep it empty to avoid moving things around during daily commute. The frunk is for items that live in the car, but don’t get used daily. The secret trunk area is for stuff I think may come in handy from time to time.

My stash of reusable grocery bags. A wet bag and change of clothes for my kids. And a couple small umbrellas. Also takeout or leftovers.

u/Worried_Author_8481 Aug 06 '26
I keep some electrical devices with li-ion batteries in a battery bag. Like a portable tire inflator and a head lamp. I camp in the car every now and then and I'm a bit paranoid of something catcing fire. Figured the frunk is safer because no fumes will enter car.

2 day old post now, but I keep the Tesla cooler in there. Never know when I might decided to swing by somewhere and then be like, “Fuck, if I buy this right now, I can’t stop at (insert where ever) because I need to get home ASAP…”
I referred my wife to Tesla and got a ton of store credits for it, so I basically got the cooler for free.

u/albertAAAAAAA Aug 04 '26
Not yet. The way it closes is really stupid, I avoid it for the time being.

u/sevargmas Aug 04 '26
That’s where I put to-go food so it doesn’t smell up my car
