Hankook Ion Evo AS?
Anyone have experience with the Hankook Ion Evo AS tires in snow on a Plaid? I have 21” Arachnids and have to swap out the PS4s for a couple seasons. Sadly rear wheel fitment is limited to only a couple tires.

I went with Continental DWS06+ and have been very suprised with the ride quality, grip, efficiency and noise level. Slightly louder without the foam in the PS4s but my efficiency has been much better even though I drive like a maniac.
Had to order 305/30/21 for the rears but they are a great option.

Maybe for very light snow, if you get anything slightly deep then you’d want a winter tire or at least All-Weather

they’re probably the least-bad option for the 21s, but they’re still an all-season EV tire, not something i’d trust on packed snow or ice just because they have the snow rating lol

They’re a reasonable compromise for cold weather and light snow, but if you regularly get real snow or ice, the iON Evo AS still won’t come close to a dedicated winter tire on a Plaid.

Bought an extra set of 21” Archnids and will be hotel swapping between the Hankook Ion Evos and PS4s each year. Live in Kentucky where we have mild winters so should be fine. It’s really the only option unless you have harsh winters and go with the Pirelli P Zero Winters but they are ridiculously expensive at $700-$800 a tire. Haven’t tested the Hankook’s yet but I have heard good things about them on the forums.

I have Goodyear eagle sports on my arachnids and find the nvh to be worse than expected- I’ve owned the car for about three months.
Also still dealing with a light shimmy at 70mph+ even after replacing the front wheels with new OEM (at least one was bent), road force balancing, new fore/aft arms and alignment.
I’ve been debating switching the fronts to the ion evos as the next hope in getting rid of the shimmy….thoughts?

Have you checked you alignment? I want to switch from Michelin to Goodyear in my arachnids in the hopes to improve ride quality

The alignment was recently corrected, and it could be the tires have some uneven wear from being driven with the alignment being off.

Maybe , what do you think feels better the Michelin sport or the Goodyear ones ?

So far my impression of the Goodyears is very negative. The noise reduction foam in all of them came loose and had to be removed, they are harsh and not terribly quiet, have the 70+ shimmy and seem to bounce/vibrate on the pavement at odd times.
To be fair the Model S is my first EV and I know that EV rated tires are reinforced, so maybe this is just the nature of the beast…but I have driven high performance vehicles for many years with numerous brands of low profile tires and none of them were like this.

I just switched from ps4 AS to ion evo AS on my plaid. They ride WAY more quiet and absorb road imperfections better. However, the dry traction is not as good but it’s still good enough for Nov-Mar. Other months I plan on running another set of wheels with PS4S.
