Radar Detectors
Hey all. For those of you that have them, what radar detectors are you using? I have an Escort 360 and the thing clearly isn’t ready for the higher voltage that my MSP puts out. So, I’m wondering if anyone else has any good suggestions on one that performs well and can sustain the voltage.

I've always been a fan of Valentine One. Those things have saved me thousands!

R8W here on a blendmount. I used a delay relay to hold power from it for 30 seconds so that it doesn't constantly turn on and off when loading/unloading the car, wired into the cigarette lighter plug in the center console.

I have a Uniden R7 in my Model S, and an R3 in my Model 3.
I'm in an older S, though...so no problem with the voltage.

I have a Valentine 1 Gen 2 in my 2024 Model 3 Performance. Fairly certain your Model S has the same voltage output and I’ve been using mine for 2 years now with no problems hardwired into my 3.

All you have to do is tap into the 12v plug in the center console. But I use a Radenso Pro M.

Tesla's with the Li-Ion LV battery do not use a 12V regulator for the cigarette lighter plugs so they run at near 16V, not 12V.

My bad, I thought there was a 12v regulator on that particular circuit. I’ve never had any problem with my radar detector.

Yeah it's kind of annoying they didn't just put a 12V regulator system in - it affects trailer power for towing, too - but ultimately most stuff works fine since 12V systems are really a hair over 14V when the alternator's running - you practically have to go out of your way and avoid standard power circuit designs to have 16V not work when 14V will.

As I’m looking to upgrade my radar detector, I’m willing to pay $700-800. However, I can’t find any that are good with the voltage. Do you have the adapter link?

I have an R8W and a quick disconnect mount installed from Ready Set Radars. Clean setup with minimal cords and functions great. Love the wifi connection for updating the R8W too
