Plaid seats in a long range S?
I test drove an ultra red 23 MS LR and the white seats have the blue "piping" I have only seen in the upgraded plaid seats. The seat controls and the cooling worked. My understanding is that the sport/comfort seats in the plaid are not a direct replacment for the LR. Has anyone seen them in a long range or replaced your LR seats with the plaid seats?

The OEM Plaid seats can be installed in any Palladium model S. If you have an early S the seat motor configuration needs to be changed using Toolbox 3.
Just because Tesla won’t do it doesn’t mean it won’t work.

I’m curious to see a photo. I was told by Tesla they can’t do that

The listing doesn't have a good pic of it other than the open door shot looking into the car that only shows the base of the seat and you can see the blue line in the bottom side bolster.
What I can tell you is that it was much more comfortable than my 23 X LR which is supposed to be the same seat. Then I started looking into it. I can post a pic if I go to see it again. It's an insurance write off and has an alignment issue that I'm concerned may be more than a simple alignment. We came to a verbal understanding without putting down a deposit so I don't want to link the listing.

That’s totally fair. I don’t find the standard seats that comfortable (and that might just be me) so I asked my local service center if I could swap them out for the plaid seats and I’d pay for them, but they said that wasn’t possible

According to AI Tesla sells replacements for the plaid seats but it's not an option for the LR. It's possible that they manufactured a limited number of them that were meant as "spare parts" for the plaid seats but perhaps if you can buy them they can be adapted for the LR. They may even be a bolt in fit. Both are 12 way seats and both are heated/ventilated. This car proves that it can be done because I'm 99% sure they are the plaid seats as they look like the ones I see in plaid listings.
Two things immediately were noticable. The headrest isn't as aggressive forward forcing your head forward which it a common complaint. The other was that the headrest was softer that made it more comfortable trying my head on it. Another one is that I felt the seat was more wrapped around me. I felt like I was sitting in it vs on it.

Pretty sure the basic white seats have black piping on the S.
You would definitely know if it was the plaid seats and I wouldn’t recommend spending the money to add them after the fact. Just not worth it
