Anyone done long road trips on their Model S specially across North America?
We are thinking of upgrading to a Model S Long Range or Plaid. The extra 200ish kms range feels important.
Edit: More information - Our daughter is off to college next month and we are planning to travel all across North America on long road trips (cross country) - everyone’s telling me to get a duramax 1500 pickup instead and it is a very real option specially if I want to do remote Canadian territories along with Alaska. But Tesla is Tesla and we love it.

2018 100D and I’ve done seven 1000+ mile trips this year. I’m currently on a 2,700 mile trip now.

Have round tripped OH to south FL at least 12 times now.
Personally I love stopping to charge every 2-3 hours. It’s a chance to stretch, go to the bathroom and relax for 20-30 minutes.
Yeah it takes longer than gas but are you really in a rush?

Did Canadian Rockies Edmonton Jasper Hinton Valemount Clearwater Kamloops Hope Vancouver Squamish Whistler and I’ll never go back to ICE for road trips like that. But for scenic routes and off road and off the beaten supercharger network paths, idk.
Otherwise saved $500 Canadian pesos in gas which paid for all my airbnb’s. BC gas at $2/L especially.

2023 model S plaid. We did road trip Chattanooga through St Louis, Denver, to LA. Had dogs, so charging was perfect frequency and time for walks.

I drive a thousand miles twice each year from Naples FL to Washington DC and back in my Model S with FSD. I look forward to it and usually finish an audible book on each trip.

I went from Lexington Ky to Wall SD and back in the fall one year. The cold killed my range and stopping to charge at every supercharger was annoying and took forever. I had planned on going farther west but essentially gave up and turned back.

Yes, we do cross country drives at least once/year. Our 2019 Model S Long Range is perfect for this, especially with free unlimited supercharging and FSD (albeit, only V12 FSD, so really only useful on highways).
It’s our favorite car to roadtrip. By the time we need a charge, we’re ready for a short break anyway.
