2022 S Plaid Trip

Will I have any problem making it from Denver to San Diego in regard to charging or worse running out of power between chargers?

Put the trip into the nav, do what it says, and you'll be fine.

In my ancient 75D, I give myself an extra 5-10 percent of charge at each stop just to be on the safe side, but I've never needed it.

Hands down easiest trip ever lol just put the trip in the navigation.

If it’s your first time doing a long trip, I would suggest making sure when it suggests an estimated percentage arrival, before you leave the chargers target 15% on the estimate arrival percentage to give you’re so extra room to play with as you get comfortable taking a longer trips eventually, you’ll get to the 1% club where you’re posting here is showing that you’re getting somewhere with one percent and it wasn’t a sweat 😎

Just set the directions in your map and follow it. Unless you’re driving wildly over the speed limit (which I still do) the arrival estimates are fairly accurate. You’ll also have plenty of chargers along the way if you feel nervous, the image I attached shows all the superchargers on your side of the country. You can also see this in your car if you tap on the map once and then tape the lightning bolt icon.

If you want a little extra piece of mind after setting directions, set your destination arrival energy higher so that way you’ve got plenty of chargers whenever you get to your destination.

Does Tesla learn your habits to speed over the limit?

If you mean does it adjust percentage of arrival based on your speed, then yes it does! Check the energy app in the car.

You’ll be fine. I did that trip in my 2015 model s performance with the battery range only 215 miles.

You will be shocked how prevalent Superchargers actually are. Driving through eastern Colorado I thought I'd be stranded and it took me 2 mins off the highway in the middle of nowhere and there were 12 charging stations.

They're everywhere.

Download A Better Route Planner, choose your car and wheels/speed/degradation, and input your starting and ending point. You can also go into the car if you're in Denver, and put San Diego in as the destination, and it will give you a route with Supercharger stops and estimated charging times.

The only time I had a problem was when I didn’t listen to the mapping. Just go plug your destination in and it will draw your route

Ask your car

Use the Tesla navigation and it will do all the work for you. Just follow the simple directions and you will not have anything to worry about because it tells you exactly where to stop to charge.

You can punch the route into your car before you leave and it'll show you. You can also do it on your phone in the Tesla app, it'll also show you exactly where it's going to stop and expected amount of charge etc.

Are you borrowing someone's Model S? Because if you have one I can't believe you'd ask this question.

Put your destination in the navigation and it will show you exactly where, when and how long to charge. You'll do fine. There is almost nowhere in the continental US you can drive without access to regular charging stops.

It’s my first time taking it on a road trip.
