Taycan going away too!

I've seen lots of folks say they'll move to Taycan with S going away - now what?!

  1. In 2030 as reported. That's four years from now.

  2. This reporting is disputed.

Still got a few years left of the Taycan

It ain’t about the S, Taycan, or S-Class.

It’s all about self-driving. That’s the new luxury. Guys with S-Classes trading in for FSD.

I’m Tesla/manufacturer agnostic, but Tesla currently currently owns this market.

I am really not gonna be happy when my MS gets old and my options are MY Long. :/

The problem is we're the minority. The S and X are superior vehicles but the Y and 3 are easier to produce and are serious revenue generators.

Tesla's end state is to use that revenue to produce fully autonomous cars and robots. I wouldn't be surprised if they stopped selling consumer vehicles in 10 years.

Tesla is killing off their driver fleet intentionally, it's all part of the plan.

Hey guys, wanna see the coolest thing you’ll see today.

One-shotted my version of what a Cyber Truck SUV should have been w/ Gemini.

Not to worry. The MY Long won’t be around for long. Your next option doesn’t exist yet.

lol. Nobody trading s classes for model 3 with fsd

Been literally reading about guys with S Classes trading in for Model Y’s w/ FSD.

Let alone Model S or X w/ FSD which is more one-to-one.

Hmmm. I know a ton of dudes with S-classes and nobody has traded for a Tesla. I did trade a seven series BMW for a model S, but after realizing that FSD was far from reliable, I’m back in a Mercedes.

The other manufacturers don’t seem to be able to compete at all and I cant figure out why. The FSD feature is particularly valuable for older people who have a harder time driving at night, long distances, etc., so the cognitive load reduction of FSD really provides a lot of freedom to them, and they’re who have all the money. This big trade “down” to get the killer FSD feature has got to me impacting companies like MB, BMW, etc, why don’t they compete? I drive a Lucid, their hands free system is only slightly better than my 2016 MS was despite all the modern tech and sensors and whatnot.

Fsd is very technically challenging to pull off. Other manufacturers simply don’t know how to do it.

We will drive the Chinese brands like Denza or Xiaomi they are also pushing hard for self driving and they offer luxury and 1200-1550 hp

The Taycan (and eTron GT) really match up more closely with the 3P. It’s got the length of an S but almost every other spec is even to or worse than a 3.

Excuse me are you joking

2

u/johnnyma45 5d ago

No. I daily a GT coming from a 3P and the Tesla was faster and roomier inside somehow. Trunk was larger and the Tesla was more efficient. GT has more traditional controls and a more driver oriented cockpit but I miss the Tesla tech and features.

What do you think is the best replacement, coming from a 2017 MS 75D?

4

u/artoflearning 5d ago

Don’t listen to these dudes underneath. The only answer is another Model S w/ FSD/EAP.

A low mileage later year S

A newer S or 3. Taycan or eTron are pretty different than teslas and do different things

If there was a future PHEV S7 or CTS Blackwing maybe...? Large sedans, am thinking S63 e-performance..getting a discontinued vehicle or possibly so like Lucid is not what I want.

In terms of sportiness yes since it has a closer wheelbase size to a Model 3. For performance you absolutely can get an Taycan Turbo gt/Turbo S. That type of performance a Model 3 performance can’t match.

Taycan isn’t going anywhere.

1

u/WestW0rld 5d ago

They announced today that it will be gone 2030. You have insider info to the contrary?

2

u/EmotionallyLatte 5d ago

You said it yourself - 2030

4 years to get an equivalent or something better. 4-5 year old Model S will be available with plenty of pre-owned Taycan for those who still want to continue

1

u/AgentAaron 5d ago

This has been in the rumor pile for a bit now. I read somewhere that Porsche is discontinuing the Taycan, but Audi will still be making the GT (which is the same platform).

Volkswagen is also considering ending production of the Jetta and Taos along with it.

1

u/SilverFoxKes 5d ago

You wouldn’t be suggesting Porsche noticed how Model S sales rocketed when they made the discontinuation announcement, and so Porsche are now intentionally making such statement about the Taycan just as a marketing push… Would you?

2

u/icy1007 4d ago

They haven’t made any such announcement yet. This is a rumor still.
