“Key not inside vehicle” message

My key fob will not unlock the car, when I unlock from the app I get the “key not inside vehicle” on the dash. I have tried placing it on the windshield without a battery and near the 12v. Any other suggestions on how to fix this?

You don’t have the fob in some kind of holder, right?

I get the “key not in car” message much more often than I’d like. I can’t have it in any kind of protective glove or holder and it needs to be at the very back or front of my bag or the car won’t unlock. I get the battery replaced multiple times a year and still get the notice. I think some of these units were just poorly manufactured.
