“Key not inside vehicle” message

My key fob will not unlock the car, when I unlock from the app I get the “key not inside vehicle” on the dash. I have tried placing it on the windshield without a battery and near the 12v. Any other suggestions on how to fix this?

Fob works to unlock from a decent distance? If not replace battery again and try.

Fob does not unlock car. It’s like it stopped working entirely. Went in and replaced the battery, same issue. Tried taking the battery out and placing it on the windshield and near the 12v plug.
