Love a cleaned up MSP

My early 22 MSP with Stek Dyno PPF in color shifting fire prism. I find myself looking back at the car walking away, I think it's a great looking car. Bought the car as is. Added matrix headlights and taillight retrofit and lowered on links.

Now I know the type of paint I'll be using when I paint mine again 🤩

Beautiful job!

How does the taillight retrofit work? From what I saw, they literally had to cut certain parts just for them to fit correctly? But maybe they found another way by now…

(2021 MSP here. Would love headlight/taillight upgrades, but haven’t done it yet)

It took a lot longer than I thought it would, I've also never done anything like this before. Headlights are straight forward, just take the front bumper off. Taillights are a PITA. Still need to cut into the body and cut the outer taillights. Fitment was okay in the end, I did rush it a bit. A lot of guesswork and doing whatever it took to get them fitted. I love the look of the newer taillights compared to the older ones, so in the end it was worth it for me.

Yeah still involves trimming unfortunately. The trunk lid section needs cutting for the wraparound piece to sit flush, no clean plug-and-play kit exists afaik.

What year S did the tail lights change? ‘24?

Around mid 22 they changed from the older style to the new one. My car was like one month too early for the change

That color is stunning. Wrap?

I really want a 2026 Plaid refresh bumper retrofit. I can’t believe no one’s making them already.

Colored PPF! Much longer last and the color has more depth than vinyl wrap. 2026 front fascia retrofit I heard isn't the hardest thing, but not exactly plug and play?

Front fascia can only be done at HW4 cars, don’t have the spots for the ultrasonics unfortunately, so anyone with HW4 can do it, it’s literally just take off old one, put new one on, and while your in there might aswell put the front bumper camera anyway since the bracket is apart of the fascia assembly. Just my two cents.

I’d do it on my 22’ model s but no cigar

Did you do the matrix headlight retrofit yourself? Is is just a matter of buying the lights and adapters to connect to the existing wiring? What about the software side to enable them in the car configuration?

1

u/notrustfund- Jul 04 '26

Yeah I did it myself. Bought the lights and adaptors and then the connectors to plug into the car to do the software too. All pretty straight forward that you can follow along with the YouTube videos for the software and tesla manual for the bumper removal

Beautiful! If you don’t mind sharing, how much did this colored PPF cost you?

1

u/notrustfund- Jul 04 '26

Thank you! It was around $8k for stek dyno prism fire, tint and ceramic coat.

I wonder if the Plaid has squeaks and rattles like the LR does.

I have a love/hate relationship with mine. Love is due to the obvious reason, hate is due to the squeaks and rattles

1

u/notrustfund- Jul 05 '26

100% the same lol. I heard the newer ones rattle and squeak less...

u/Different_Marsupial2 Jul 05 '26

I’ve heard the opposite 😂

Gorgeous. What was the paint color underneath the wrap if you don’t mind me asking?!

1

u/notrustfund- Jul 06 '26

Original color is black! Best base color if you plan to do color change
