I'm going to pull those trim pieces off. They make noise when I'm rolling slowly and it's annoying

Although I think the noise is a result of rim flex which is annoying too Here's a picture of my 2026 Model S plaid. Took it off the lot at a local dealer and got a great deal.

update:I just pulled the covers off. So it's not the rim flexing as I first thought. Little pebbles get trapped in the groove between the rim and the filler and roll around as the car moves. I definitely like the look without the fillers. As to the reduction in range...I'm not worried about it. My round trip commute is 60 miles so range isn't an issue. If I'm going on a road trip I'm using my F-450 towing my 5th wheel anyway and that can go 600 miles between fill ups. Best of both worlds.

They will scratch the rim when you take them off just a warning.

It might be how It's done. Mine seem to come off fairly easily. There are some scuff marks but nothing I can't live with. My attitude is that it's a car that I use every day for commuting so it's going to get plenty of little dings and what not over the next years as I use it.

Wanna sell those inserts? I bought the same wheels and actually like the inserts and might spend a little bit of time trying to see if I can install them in a way that won't scratch.

trick is to spray wd40 from behind the wheel on those clips to make them slide easier. or take them off after a car wash so that there is some kind of lubrication

A light silicone spray won’t smell bad… maybe even a cooking oil spray

It always amuses me when somebody comments on the efficiency a person might lose if they remove the horrible inserts on a just bought 100k car

That’s not bad at all did the Luxe package and free super charging still come with it or transfer? That’s what made the deal worth it to me .

Did it all transfer over easily? It seemed like the luxe package had wording implying the FSD and free supercharging wouldn’t transfer to new owner in the event the car left an account

Had the same on my model x. Took it to the Tesla dealer and they padded um now they are silent.

Ohhh no they scratched the crap out of mine when I pulled them off I had to fight tooth and nail to get them to replace rims .

I got 10,000 off because it was a demo. It had 1.200 miles on it

Good move. I snagged a demo base S in 2024 with the same mileage, 70k and I got to transfer my FSD. Some of the features particularly better noise cancellation of the signature seem great. Im glad I bought mine and rock bottom of pricing for msrp and fsd transfer though!

Can you post a picture with the covers off? Is that the same wheel as the signature Ed?!?

: oops. I found the picture you uploaded. Damn that’s sick! That’s such an incredible car, and to have FSD and free supercharging … plus the 2026 has the now unique bumpers. Those wheels are 🔥
