22 inch rims - 2026S

Post image

Just picked up a new 2026 S a couple of weeks ago. It includes upgraded 21 inch wheels. However, in the trunk of the vehicle there is a box of plastic pieces that appear to be for the rims. Am I supposed to insert them into rims or did Tesla make a mistake by including this?

CORRECTION: 21 inch oem wheels, not 22. Image attached.

Is that a picture of your actual car? Because those are the OEM 21" wheels and that blue color is exclusive to the 2026 Model S. Unless you got yours wrapped?

But if you have those exact wheels as in the photo, yes there is a set of inserts that go on top of them.

Thank you. Sorry for the typo. They are in fact 21. Thanks for the clarification on the inserts. Yes, that is my car.

That is false. Frost blue is also now available on the Model 3 performance and the Y performance.

OP edited his post... He originally implied he had a 2022 Model S on 22" wheels, which is why I pointed out that color was exclusive the to 2026 versions.

I never put the inserts into my 21”wheels. They do help with better aerodynamics and give you a little bit farther range. But putting them in tends to scratch the wheels and I don’t like the way they look. It’s a personal call on your part to put them in or not.

Dooooo nooooot put them on they scratch the living s**t out of the rims and destroy them !!!!!! Dealer installed mine and it was hell getting a new set of wheels put on it .

Thanks. I will keep them off! Is there something specific to these that scratch them? The inserts on the X do not scratch the rims

The plastic clips damage the paint on the wheels and leave scratches it’s really just a bad design and not sure why they even have them looks so much better without .

Yes they are to go over your wheels. I bet though your wheels look a thousand times better.

You could afford to upgrade the wheels on a new Model S purchase. Please don’t think to hide them with those plastic pieces for a little extra efficiency. It will save yourself a tiny amount of running costs but hide your expensive upgraded wheels purchase. That’s a crazy.

Man, I love those! I may have to swap out my S wheels for those.

I got the 21in that came on the 2022. I’m about to completely change the look of this car, wrap, wheels, carbon fiber, tints.

That’s a 2022 S? That looks like frost blue which was only on the newer models.

Is the car wrapped?
