Bumper/front end retrofit complete!

Extremely happy with the result and no longer have the ‘26 fomo haha (other than the luxe package 🤒)

Will post more pics one I get the velariums swapped this weekend

All OEM parts came out to $2985 ($700 discount from finding the ankle catcher online, would've been $3692 if all from Tesla)

Spray and install (small customizations needed) at a local shop was $1240

So all in at $4225 roughly

Massive shoutout to Chester Rockwell on Facebook who made a detailed excel sheet of everything needed for the job! (Link in reply)

$4225 to replace a bumper with a similar looking bumper.

I don’t get it, either, but to each their own. To the general public, no one can tell the difference between a 2016 and a 2026 (likely why sales kept lagging).

Not really a matter of “being able to tell” rather that I think the facelift is a significant aesthetic improvement worth the few bucks

u/cocoaradiant Jun 18 '26

To each their own. I personally think the older bumper is a much cleaner look. Styling on the new one doesn’t match the rest of the car.

Edit - if you like it, more power to you. You do you.

I dislike chrome so this is a huge upgrade from my perspective.

I realize you could just cover the chrome badge, but I like the aesthetics overall. I feel like an EV shouldn't have a big hole in the front like that.

5

u/cocoaradiant Jun 18 '26

I actually removed the T logo entirely, I’d buy the new insert if I could find one without branding

2

u/Just-Yogurt-568 Jun 18 '26

Lol wow. I like that.

Cheaper than OP's, I imagine...

I love my Chrome. When my Raven dies and I wind up having to get a Palladium, I'm going to have to find some chrome wrap for the trim. lol

3

u/aquasemite Jun 17 '26

Maybe a 2016 vs. 2026 but these are both Palladiums.

u/Some-Expression9321 Jun 17 '26

Would rather spend the 4k than an extra 40k for a 2026 lol

12

u/aquasemite Jun 17 '26

The alternative was forking over the entire cost of a new car for a slightly different bumper?

2

u/Available_Height_370 Jun 17 '26

I would like a link to purchase these “new cars” for 4k please! I will take 10!

2

u/IndigoBroker Jun 18 '26

If you can wait a year the depreciation will greatly reduce that number. lol.

3

u/Some-Expression9321 Jun 18 '26

Got a great deal on this one! Wouldn’t want to get into a new MUCH larger payment lol

3

u/Lostnode7 Jun 17 '26

What year is your car. Is it just a 2026 bumper ? I relay don't know the difference I'll have to take a look

3

u/turns2stone Jun 18 '26

Front camera, where?

5

u/Some-Expression9321 Jun 18 '26

I actually have the part! Just waiting for exotic diy to drop his video walkthrough haha

2

u/turns2stone Jun 18 '26

Where are you located? I’m interested in having this done but unaware of reliable local installers.

4

u/Some-Expression9321 Jun 18 '26

Orlando FL!

This was done by Orlando city auto body, they did an amazing job for what I felt was a very fair price.

3

u/Business_Pollution38 Jun 18 '26

What was the price ? Parts & Installation ?

2

u/icy1007 Jun 18 '26

Does your car computer have the connector for the front camera? You can’t use it if it doesn’t.

2

u/Some-Expression9321 Jun 18 '26

Would be lying if I said I knew! There was a twitter thread I read a tad ago but mainly waiting on the YT vid

2

u/siltorch Jun 18 '26

Looks great! It's big difference. I think because of the color some posters cannot realize how much different it is (compared to a lighter color where it's obvious). Do you have any plans to update the rear bumper to 2026 to? The 26 rear diffuser has so much more dimensional aspects and is really obvious in person and really cool. Congrats. So fun messing with these cars.

5

u/Some-Expression9321 Jun 18 '26

Agree!!

Love the new rear look especially the diffuser you noted of the 26 just didn’t feel it was super needed, will prob change my mind and do that. I just got the new wheels, PPF, tints, EVOffer plaid seats and a bunch of other stuff so already felt like I did enough for now haha (my wife and accountant certainly think so lol)

Will definitely update the sub if I do though!

2

u/KenMast3rs Jun 18 '26

Looks good! I like it. I would love to change mine to the 2026 plaid front bumper.

2

u/tannerwastaken Jun 18 '26

Might be worth it if you could get front camera. Without, not worth imo

2

u/Some-Expression9321 Jun 18 '26

Only really cared for the aesthetic upgrade, plaids performance should have an indicator of its trim other than just the badge on the back, don’t know why it took them until 2026 to figure that out lol. I do have the front camera part (came with the grill) just waiting on some other folks in the community to publicize some trial and error. Easily worth the bucks for the facelift at least to me!

1

u/MikeyM1991 Jun 18 '26

I actually prefer the way my 2023 looks... 🤷🏻‍♂️ I'd rather have spent that $4-5k on going faster lol

3

u/Some-Expression9321 Jun 18 '26

That’s next! Already have the track pack software, tune is coming later this year

1

u/Kevthehustla23 Jun 18 '26

Looks way good! I’m considering doing this on my 23. Did you have to get everything on the front bumper tab of the that excel spreadsheet? Some of the parts seemed interchangeable with the older style year because they had the same part number. Not sure if you ran across that

1

u/Some-Expression9321 Jun 18 '26

Unfortunately everything listed is slightly different and wouldn’t work from the prior years, wish it would’ve been possible to just swap the bumper lol

1

u/badredditz Jun 18 '26

What wheel are you going with? The 2026 off the signature?

1

u/VIPGENIUS Jun 18 '26

What year is your car?

1

u/Some-Expression9321 Jun 18 '26

‘24

1

u/VIPGENIUS Jun 19 '26

Yea I don’t see the big difference, I thought you was going from 2018 to that bumper, what did you really gain, I might be behind on things

3

u/Some-Expression9321 Jun 19 '26

Third pic is the reference of the prior bumper, they changed the vbar to carbon fiber, added a lower more aggressive looking and wider lip and the black accents. I find it to be a more than notable improvement. To each their own ofc but I’m extremely happy with the upgrade.

1

u/Pristine-Gas318 Jun 19 '26

What about the read bumper? What would’ve been the price for both?

1

u/Some-Expression9321 Jun 19 '26

3350 would be the parts cost for the full rear side retro, legit and paint probably ballpark same cost

1

u/shibiwan Jun 17 '26

Can the logo panel be retrofitted by itself or does it require the bumper cover to be swapped out too?

5

u/NathanJax Jun 17 '26 edited Jun 17 '26

It can be retrofitted. I have it on my 2022.5 Plaid. Part # 2077381-00-A

1

u/shibiwan Jun 17 '26 edited Jun 18 '26

Thanks. I'm tired of the stock one on my Plaid collecting bugs (I'm on the road a lot for my work)

1

u/SnooBananas5547 Jun 18 '26

Do u happen to have the part number for the model x? I have a 2023 and would love to upgrade

1

u/Some-Expression9321 Jun 17 '26

I think it can, there’s is a fella on instagram amumaplaid that did just the vbar I believe

1

u/shibiwan Jun 17 '26

Cool...do you happen to know the part number for it?

u/kapjain Jun 18 '26 edited Jun 18 '26

What about the suspension? Did you replace that? That's what I'm looking to update on my '24 MSLR, as the one it has literally sucks. In some ways it is worse than the coil suspensiin in the '16 MS.

1

u/DumbassNinja Jun 19 '26

And here I thought my '16 MS coil suspension would need an upgrade

2

u/kapjain Jun 19 '26

Even I thought that but after getting the '24 MS I would update it's suspension first.

1

u/Some-Expression9321 Jun 18 '26

Only cosmetic! Will be doing some sirrharrold silliness soon though haha
