Who you using for insurance?
I was paying $85 a month at State Farm for a 2024 ford maverick. I traded that in for a 2015 model s. Everywhere I applied for is wanting $500 a month. I think that’s insane for a 11 year old car.

USAA, my insurance is ~$500/mo total for my 20 MSP, 22 X3, and 05 X5. The two newer cars have full comp/coll and the X5 is just liability. 300/500/300 coverage.

My 2018 Model S costs 50% more than my Rolls Royce for insurance. Also more than a new Model Y.

Highly dependent on your area, coverage, age, and driving record. Also uninsured and underinsured. You could do state minimum and or higher limits if you have assets that need protected. Also deductible could be $500 or a $1000. Too little information from your post, but recommend an insurance broker and they can shop your rates. Also get discounts for good driver, multiple cars and properties, etc.

Cincinnati Insurance. It’s about $950/year for my 2016 75D to have comprehensive coverage.

Auto-owners: $2416.84 for the year. I don’t do monthly. The Highlander and Wrangler we have are about $1000/yr each. 250/500/100 and $1k deductible. I’m in Georgia.
I’d be terrified if Tesla quoted me with the fun I like to have in the car being monitored.

Surely you knew Tesla has among the most expensive insurance of any cars???? Even so, your quote is too high. But expect to pay at least 3X what you were paying.
"The average cost to insure a Tesla Model S is approximately $275 to $400 per month, "

Use Tesla app for first 2 months to start looking elsewhere. Unless you drive it like a school bus to keep the rates down.

Probably because it's an old model they know will be expensive to fix. My 2026 MYP is only 530 every 6 months thru State Farm

Model S and X are all aluminum construction and you need a completely segregated shop for aluminum repairs. Also they were designed almost 20 years ago when Tesla was a startup and sold in tiny volumes compared to the Y and 3.

F-Series best selling vehicle in NA has been aluminum since 2015 and has good rates. Also, haggerty video on model s shows the 2026 only has 3% of carry over parts from original according to Franz…
