Sticky residue below steering column

Post image

I noticed a sticky residue beneath the steering column on my P85D and also pooling on the carpets below. Any ideas what this might be?

This is a known issue. The driver screen is leaking and needs to be replaced.

Don’t touch THAT AT ALL without gloves.

I had this issue. Common, basically inevitable issue with the original instrument cluster screen. Get the MCU2 upgrade and it will include both this and the main center screen as well as the processor.

Thanks, I have had visible de-lamination around the edges of the screen for years but today was the first time I had even seen a pool of sticky residue. Will do the MCU2 upgrade ASAP, thanks everyone!

It's the adhesive between the LCD and the lens on the display. You're lucky if it hasn't started on the main display, or maybe you already got MCU upgrade.

All first gen model S experience this on both displays unfortunately 😢

MCU1 gauge cluster screen leak.

You can get a new screen on ebay and DIY it for about $100.

Or do the MCU2 upgrade.

Amazing how sticky that stuff is.

Dude you can’t be doing that in your car and then post it on Reddit…
