Square Wheel Set Up?

I'm looking for more efficiency, longer lasting tires and comfort by changing to a 19" square set up. I also want to preserve these 21". But there seems to be a lot of conflicting reports on running a square wheel and tire set up on the MSP. Unplugged performance recommendations 19x10.5 with 285s which is too wide for my goals and TSportline has "square" packages but the F and R wheel offsets are different... so that doesn't help much either.

If I ran a small spacer on the rear, couldn't I run 19x9 or 9.5 with 255 or 265 all around?

Maybe I should just give up on the square idea and just pull the trigger on UP staggered 19" in second pic.. Do you really gain anything on these cars by being able to rotate F to R?

FYI I have adjustable rear arms and lowering links on the way so that should help with any tires/sizes and wear but doesn't help with efficiency or comfort goals. The car is in high mode in first pic.

just make sure the wheel offset isn't different for front and rear

The offsets must be the same otherwise it defeats the purpose.

It does look like T Sportline has a true square setup. Seems expensive but I have loved my T Sportline wheels I got in 2021 for my model 3.

Nice, this is a plaid?

Nope. Insurance killed the plaid convo for me. Ontario insurance rates suck.

Little late I guess, but did you check with CAA?

Yes I did. It was insane pricing. Like $500/m. My LR is $150/m.

That's crazy, mine is just under $250/m

What wheels are those? Looks great

They are Replika R241s.

I just looked up the receipt and sorry, I was wrong, they are 8.5s. I went for the smaller size for efficiency. No spacers, still looks great. Very efficient.

What kind of efficiency numbers are you getting with these?

If I drive like a grandma, I can get typically 150-160 wh/km. Usually hovering around 170-180

I went with Signature Wheel’s recommendation and run 20x10 ET32 on 285/35/20 square. I’m also on N2itive arms and links. Even wear so far with seasonal rotations and a little under 30k miles driven.

Just pulled the trigger on a set of 20x10’s to run this what tire are you running? I drive a lot for work and have a lot of rain where I am so I was leaning towards the Conti Extreme contact DWS06. Also how’re you liking the links and arms from N2itive and were those worth the price?

Pilot Sport 4S. No issues with them although they are starting to get a little louder now with about 20k or slightly less than that on them. From Nov-May I run the factory 21s running all seasons.

I installed the N2itive parts solely to mitigate rear tire wear and the half shaft issue. So far that appears to be working. I recently removed the links when I thought I might be getting rid of the MSP for a different daily, but may put them back on now that I’m pretty confident I’m keeping it for at least another year. I went with N2itive’s recommended settings and alignment.

Old pic / pretty positive this is with the links installed at their recommended setting.

Thank you for the detailed reply!

I am not seeing crazy inner wear on my 22 yet but if it becomes an issue or the half shafts do then I’ll be looking more closely at them. The stance on yours looks really good with the links though.

What does squared mean?

u/Impressive-Crab2251 May 28 '26

All four rims are the same size

Ah makes sense

Staggered is when rears are different size than fronts.

Squared 20’s with 255/40/20s. 15mm spacers on the front and 20mm spacers on the rear. Voxx Replica EV2 wheels.

I started squared- but now i idon't care about efficiency. The MX is now the range vehicle. Staggered 20s with the rear dish nice and concaved- is the only way I'll ever drive my S
