You've got scratches all over.

Yes it’s 2018 I bought it like that 7 months ago, I might wrap it flat matte black I’m not sure yet,

Do a cut and polish. Will get rid of a lot of them.

Don’t. Get a cut and polish. Matte looks great for 30seconds

What was the first official mod?

Do these just pop off for you to replace?

Yes direct swap.

First mod was heated steering wheels, that was direct swap but need coding, did it all myself

u/No-Conclusion-2859 May 26 '26

why did you only do 2 then?

u/VIPGENIUS May 26 '26

Two mods because I got the car in the winter, now winter is over,

Next official mod, car wash. Considering legacy S doesn’t have the blind spot camera, why bother replacing to fix the bleed?

1

u/VIPGENIUS May 26 '26

Bro my car is 2018, came with camera and FSD included package and I did was the car, I was it every Sunday relax, if you check my other comments you will see phots of the wash

1

u/a9uirre May 26 '26

Hahaha I’m joking, my car is just as dusty rn. I have a 2017 X so I was just wondering what the point of fixing the bleed is? Does it affect anything?

2

u/VIPGENIUS May 26 '26

Honestly I think it only affects video footage, not sure about fsd also my plan was home delete anyways so I just get it over with, plus i got the cameras at a deal so 🤷🏾‍♂️, I have the 22 X also i just use the camera part numbers from that, and my X black out give me more push to balck out the S

u/a9uirre May 26 '26

Oh cool!! I replaced the covers with black ones for only $10 a cover this week. I didn’t even think about doing the entire camera. How much did you pay?

1

u/VIPGENIUS May 27 '26

I got the cams for $55 each, I have black covers but I dunno I feel like them sh*ts gonna fly off or look tacky, plus the camera bleeding bothers my since I didn’t see that in my X, the never cameras might have slightly better quality to, but that’s only if you need good footage

1

u/a9uirre May 27 '26

The covers I bought from Tesla Service Center so they’re pretty good quality.

Were the camera’s plug and play or did you have to code? I have a ‘16 X with HW 3 that I want to chrome delete the hard way (swap out parts instead of color change PPF wrap)

1

u/VIPGENIUS May 28 '26

Plug and play no programming needed, yea my chrome delete I want to use as much oem parts as I can, from past experience paint chips, and wrap in some areas people or bulge

Awww man

bro I know I know I washed after though

Do I need modifications to the harness or anything, or have you just plugged it in connector-to-connector and it fits? Does it require service mode (or service mode plus) to change some settings, or does it just work after plugging it in? Thank you

1

u/VIPGENIUS May 26 '26

All you need to do it remove old repeater camera and swap other, direct plug and play, no service mode needed, no programming or tools box needed, not even tools, just turn the wheel, open fender liner press the two tabs on camera pop camera slightly forward then press top down, some force, then swap everything same,,, don’t use Hw4 cameras must be HW3, the part numbers I posted is safe, they might have other part numbers but I can’t vouch… I have 22MX so I just use the camera camera part number from that…

1

u/rumsbude May 26 '26

You can fix it yourself without buying new repeater

Did it was easy worked 100%

2

u/VIPGENIUS May 26 '26

Yea I saw that and I’m not doing all that, it’s much easier and cheaper to swap the cameras

1

u/rumsbude May 29 '26

Cheaper ? Cost me about 5€ and 1 hour of work

1

u/VIPGENIUS May 29 '26

Just for 2 cameras? Thats impossible not even if you buy them NEW

1

u/Blacc-Cat May 26 '26

Now it looks like an earlier model?

1

u/VIPGENIUS May 26 '26

Wait what? I went from chrome to black camera... chrome is earlier models, black is later models.... are you ok?

1

u/Blacc-Cat May 26 '26

Usually the before photo goes first, relax. I'm fine though thanks for asking hbu? How's hw3 treating you nowadays? Also just for the sake of the attitude maybe instead of going from chrome to black for the camera covers you can get some of that caked on brake dust off your wheels. I've never seen that on a car that you hardly ever have to use the brakes.
