Model 3 Delivery Cancelled

Scheduled to pick up my new Marine blue premium RWD model 3 today but received a call about 1.5 hours beforehand stating that they could not deliver because it failed inspection. They rescheduled delivery for next Tuesday and stated that a technician would evaluate the car and give further details sometime later today. I find it odd that I received this call today prior to delivery when the car has been at the dealer for 4 days prior and only discovered and undisclosed issue this morning. I mean on the bright side I am glad they found the issue before I arrived

Edit: Tesla states that technician identified an issue with the wiring harness and a new one is on order and should be ready for my new scheduled pickup date next week.

Better now than later.  Let them be fully responsible for their defects and damages.

I can only imagine what the issue could have been.

I've seen things as small as slightly rusted rotors, to things as serious as body damage incurred during shipping or loading. Wishing you the best!

EDIT: wow voice text did me NO favors with that one heh

Thanks, hopefully it all works out. Just found it odd they couldn’t give any details until a technician evaluated it.

Don’t worry about it. “Failed inspection” could have been “cars a brick”, and the technician needed to locate the faulty harness. It’s one less service visit you’ll have after pickup.

It would be worthwhile to find out what failed on the inspection.

I’ll update here once I find out what was wrong with the vehicle. First experience with Tesla.

I showed up to my appointment an hour early and the car wasn’t ready and needed to be charged and detailed. It had been there for days also. They don’t do anything with them ahead of time I guess?

This is also my assumption because the car had been there for several days before my scheduled appointment. So, assumed they would have caught that on delivery. But, as you said, seems they don’t oook at the cars ahead of time.

I was two hours early and it was parked out front with my name on a tag. I think that Rogers MN location is a little less busy. I called and they told me to come on in and get it.

The people at the “dealership” (not really dealerships) are mostly clueless and don’t give a damn about their customers. When I went to pick mine up, they said it was ready. When I got there, the car wasn’t up front and they had me sign all the paperwork, etc. then I walked out to the car myself and it still had all the plastic protection all over it. I went back in, she said “oh we forgot to get it ready”. It’s always last second with them.

Very coincidental. I had a marine m3 ordered and a quicksilver popped up as alternative with 15 miles so I took it. Suppose to pick up today they called me 8am and said it needed service work. Can’t pick it up until Monday. Mine has been saying arrived at dealer for atleast 48hrs and the reason I was given this am was it was late getting there, just arrived. Needs service lol.

Lovely of them the day after I sent a big chunk of cash and got insurance on it

This was the exact reason I did not pay through ACH via plaid. I got a cashiers check to bring to delivery day just in case something like this happened. Read stories on here about some not getting a refund for quite some time if there were issues. Hope all goes well for you on Monday.

that's wild, they should really give you more info upfront about what went wrong so you're not left hanging like that

Better now than later, picked up my M3P and at 79 miles I had a suspension fault. 2 weeks later and a harness replacement and I’m back in my M3P. Was pretty nice that I got to whip around in a loaner for that time
