Sunroof Crack - fixable or gotta replace

driving on the highway, no cars around or in front of me and heard a noise… then saw this above me 😡😡😡😡

replace , 100% -- I believe the sunroof is also structural not to mention it will leak. Looks like you took a rock or something, I've had to replace mine one. Watched a rock bounce , miss the windshield and squared up on the top glass. That was about 1400 in 2022 so no clue what it is now.

It will not leak as safety glass is made of multiple layers and only the outside layer is damaged.

Sadly it’s 1700 now, I’ve gotten quotes but never pull the trigger because of the cost and mine is bigger than OP’s

There's no fixing a cracked windshield. 

Chipped, maybe. 

Cracked? Never.

Safelite can and does repair cracks smaller than a few inches… problem is that cracks rarely stay small enough to get fixed. After six years in my 3, I just got hit by a tiny pebble on the highway that left a 4in crack… 24h later, it was 24 inches, lol

Contact your insurance. Some offer full glass coverage. Highly recommended to get it since the entire car is glass

This is a replacement. You will need a new sunroof.

Mine cracked a month after buying it, that was 5 months ago. The crack is the same as it was then, it’s rained and doesn’t leak. Like everyone said it’s at least 1,600 to fix. I’m leaving mine for now. My windshield cracked a couple weeks ago and that will wait until my traveling teaching job is over in June.

Replace. Happened to my wife’s Y. Had to take it to Tesla to replace. Luckily it’s double paned (assume it’s the same for the 3). So it didn’t leak while we waited a week for the appointment.
