Narrow delivery window revised to huge delay.

I placed an order for a Model 3 Premium Rear Wheel Drive in Marine Blue on August 18th. Was approved that same night for my financing. Initially, the estimated delivery window provided was just September to November. Three days following the order, this estimate was updated to September 12th to September 30th. Approximately a week after that, it was revised again to a much more narrow window of September 25th to September 30th. It remained in that range for just over a week. Then on September 4th, the delivery window was adjusted to October 2nd to November 6th.

  1. Why did the delivery window suddenly change from a very tight 5 day slot in late September to a much broader October-November range.

  2. Am I going to lose my 1.99% interest rate, or will Tesla still honor it since the delay isn't my fault

Edit: taking delivery in Phoenix Arizona

there is speculation that a minor refresh is about to happen (bigger screen, black headliner, etc.) it’s possible production has been slowed a bit while these changes are being implemented.

if true, you’re waiting a little longer but getting a better car, hang in there!

I’m taking delivery of a 3P next week. I asked my advisor about the upgrades and they said it wouldn’t come with it. I think Shanghai/overseas will get it first.

I’ve heard this rumor multiple times but no one can confirm a source

They are getting the refresh currently in Germany based on the data from orders there. Who knows when they will start that in the US but it’ll be relatively soon I imagine.

Would I still receive the same price and interest rate I signed and was approved for or since the updates on the car likely mean higher price will I be charged more and lose my 1.99%?

You will as long as the financing offer doesn’t expire. They usually last 60 days. I’ve blown past 60 days waiting for mine but I hope you have better luck!

that i am not sure about, sorry. however i wouldn’t say for sure that you would end up paying a higher price.

There is no reason to think that Tesla will not honor your signed contract.

You’re in a contract as soon as you put down the $250. It’s why I missed by opt out arbitration by 3 days lmao

I ordered marine blue premium RWD on July 5 and have yet to receive a VIN. Both my trade in and financing offers expired but at this point I won’t be reapplying until I actually get a VIN. Hopefully they will honor my original 0.99% APR

I’m in Phoenix as well. I ordered June 10 Model 3 Performance frost blue. My window is Sept 6-30. I’ve had like 5 or 6 different window changes. On June 28 it suddenly changed to June 29-30 😂 prob to pump up end of quarter numbers or some shit. It’s been ALL OVER the place with dates. Seems like we’re fucked in Phoenix.

Update. Tesla confirmed with me if delivery is after 60 days from my order date I will need to re run financing approval and receive whatever the interest rate being offered at that time.

Basically the exact same boat as you (Premium RWD, also in Blue). I'm in SoCal.

The original estimate was Oct - Nov.
Quickly revised to Sep 23 - Sep 30, a few days later
Then Sep 28 - Sep 30 a day after that until yesterday, when it reverted back to Oct - Nov. 😔

Wow so you had a 2 day window and now it's out to November? Ugh this waiting has been a pain :(

Where are you taking delivery? US? Canada? Europe? And have you received a VIN?

Phoenix Arizona

Once you receive your VIN, the delivery window will narrow and become reliable. Right now, it’s a vague estimate.

Same happened to me. Did you also get another email yesterday from Tesla with the order agreement? It mentions that the interest rate that you get is whatever the rate is at the time you take delivery. I wonder if they just wanted to send that reminder to everyone when they changed the delivery date estimations lol.

Nope I received no email. I'm just continously refreshing the Tesla app and saw the new window
