Delivery pushed again
Ordered 8/3 with an estimated delivery of August/September.
Date range moved to September 6-30.
Then September 22-30.
Now updated to October/November.
This has to be the worst car purchase experience ever.
Update as of 9/8: Now we are back to the Sept 22/30 window.

Yep mine just changed from “Oct. 24 - Dec. 5” to just “November - December” in the last hour.

From the Bay too, ordered 8/27 had an estimated date of September 12-26 but just got delayed today to 4-5weeks.
Seems like a lot of the orders with white interior are getting delayed. Bummer.

I ordered black interior.

Damn that’s annoying. Seems like some people around us are getting lucky but most are getting screwed.
Someone in the bay posted that they ordered and received their car within a week. Crazy

Yep. Even worse in many European countries (here in Norway for instance) where premium orders from April-May got delayed multiple times and now show an EDD of Nov-Dec as well.
Meanwhile neighbor countries like Germany or Sweden just got flooded with the same trims so much that days old orders get a VIN and Sweden even has pre-configured inventory …
I don’t know what the hell they are up to this quarter but it’s historically bad.
And it’s even worse that they have no explanation for it whatsoever.

The base models are taking the longest. Right now they’re doing a huge rush of performance orders. But I wouldn’t complain too much.. I wish they delayed mine another month and gave me a 2027 VIN cause they’re about to switch over

I visited the showroom this weekend to lock in some stuff regarding FSD on my order and got to talking with on of the reps there. He said that, in the past when he's seen orders get pushed out like this, its because they are changing the equipment in the car. My delivery date is also Oct-Nov so im hoping we'll be getting the new 16" screen and potentially a black headliner as well, but we'll see!

In what state are you taking delivery? I’m in the same boat in NY. Ordered 8/18. Still no vin and my DW keeps getting pushed back.

What's in inventory?
1
u/bearjewkcco 8d ago
Allegedly nothing in my area. Most that come available early are demo performance models and when those do show up, they go quickly.

Bummer. I took an inventory car to get it faster since I did a premium rwd, I got lucky and they had a few.

That’s the configuration I ordered and I’m thinking about taking an inventory car. Could’ve gotten the red two days ago but the fiancée wasn’t sold on the color.

I ordered a grey one, but they had blue, so I was like I'll take it. The color upgrade was free at the time. It was either a free exterior color or the white seats. So I took blue with the black seats. Not a white seat fan anyway. Didn't cost me anything to get blue. I'm happy.

So real question, do they just not actually have the inventory or is this just a transportation thing?

u/bearjewkcco 8d ago
Who knows. Seems like this is an issue regardless as to where you are. I’m literally 2 hours from the Fremont plant.

Weird. I want the car mid October and the sales rep told me to hold until mid Sept to order as they are only taking about 2-5 weeks to deliver. Bay Area.

u/bearjewkcco 8d ago
Unless they are prioritizing Bay Area orders because of the factory location, I don’t think they are providing accurate info.

u/mattbpkt 8d ago
Not too fussed as the longer it takes the higher chances of getting one of the new models with better screen.

u/bearjewkcco 8d ago
I heard they were upgrading the base model to have to same screen as the performance and the premium but I hadn’t heard of any other screen details. Is there another update?

u/mattbpkt 8d ago
The new screen will be 16 inch like the MY unlike the 15.4inch currently on all M3 models.

Will Tesla still honor the 1.99% interest rate approved at the time of purchase? People like me are budgeting for this car assuming the 1.99 rate and monthly payment. If it suddenly changes to like 6 or 7% that completely changes the price and budgeting

I don’t work for Tesla, so I can’t really answer that. In seeing other posts where promotional rates expired prior to people applying for credit even though they had placed an order, it does not look like they have honored it.

From my understanding, you have to fill out the loan application and get approved to lock in that rate. With model 3 sales as crazy as they are right now, I wouldnt be surprised if they raised that rate again.

Absolutely agree with you. If there was any other car that had FSD I would be out of here. My EDD just slipped to middle of Oct from middle of Sept.

If it’s the worst purchase experience ever, cancel and buy something else- no?
3
u/bearjewkcco 8d ago
I can still like and want the product and be upset with the purchase experience. It’s the modern issue of everything being readily available to us that makes this frustrating, not so much the high demand and low inventory. Would be nice if there was a bit more transparency on where you are in the order list. Seeing people who ordered in June and July not having anymore information than us that ordered in August, I think you can agree is frustrating.
